Umno and BN will have to take responsibility for the "unprofessional" and "violent" behaviour of the police towards the public at yesterday's Bersih 3.0 rally, said Selangor PAS Youth.

NONE "We strongly condemn the violent and excessive behaviour of the police in handling the peaceful Bersih 3.0 demonstration around Kuala Lumpur yesterday," said Selangor Youth chief Hasbullah Mohd Ridzwan ( left ).

"Selangor PAS Youth views that Umno and BN have to take responsibility for all the violence and unprofessionalism of the PDRM's part," he said in a statement today.

He said Umno-BN cannot "shirk responsibility" for yesterday's police violence because they would not have acted without the "permission and blessings" from the top.

Claiming to have video and photographic proof showing various acts of violence by the police assaulting peaceful protestors, Hasbullah said they were prepared to expose these should the police continue to "lie about the circumstances" that took place yesterday.

NONE At the Bersih 3.0 rally that started gathering as early as 9am yesterday, an estimated 100,000 eventually congregated at the periphery of Dataran Merdeka the start time of the event at 2.30pm.

The day had been peaceful and carnival-like up to the time Bersih organisers declared the rally a success, and called for the crowds to disperse.

However, the police began firing tear gas and water cannons at the protestors at around 3pm, blaming the protestors for breaching the barricades that cordoned off Dataran Merdeka.

Following this, police continued to pursue the protestors and made a number of arrests, including journalists .

Hasbullah added, "We feel really sad that the police still allow themselves to be used by Umno and BN."
