No religion condones cheating and corruption

YOURSAY 'I do not know of any religion that promotes and protects tyrannical and corrupt governments.'

Nik Aziz: Fatwa council looking through one eye

your say Ruben: With all due respect, the National Fatwa Council's ruling on Bersih 3.0 is totally wrong and smacks again of political allegiance.

Why did they not issue the fatwa before the Bersih 3.0 rally? Bersih's demands were all for justice and in the interests of all Malaysians.

Is the demand for free, fair and a reform to the fraudulent electoral rolls ‘haram' (sinful)?

Why did they not issue a fatwa against the Perkasa protests or the cow-head incident or the anti-Lynas protests or the students occupying Dataran Merdeka?

Imraz Ikhbal: This is what Allah decrees, and which any person who professes to be an Islamic religious expert would know by heart:

"Whereupon one witnesses anything that is wrong and against the teachings of God, he/she should oppose and strive against it with his/her hand (i.e using the authority vested upon the person in whatsoever capacity, for example. leader, father, brother, teacher, etc).

"If he/she is incapable of doing so, then he/she should oppose it with his/her tongue (i.e speech, writing, report, blogging, protest or advocacy of any sort) so as to influence others to oppose the same.

"If one is still incapable of doing so for whatsoever reason, then he/she should at the least oppose it with his/her heart.

"Verily, if one is not capable of even doing that last command (that is taking a personal stand against that which clearly sinful), then there is not a even a single iota of faith in such person."

In the case of the ‘learned' muftis of the Umno religion, not only can't they personally oppose, they instead support such sins.

Jeremy Ng: The National Fatwa Council is discrediting itself when it starts playing Umno politics.

I do not know of any religion that promote and protect tyrannical and corrupt governments. Islam will always expect its followers to get rid of government which cheats to stay in power.

This ruling is not only seeing with one eye or walking with one leg, but outright playing dirty political game at the expense of Islam. The council members must repent or resign.

Hero325: I see quite a number of netizens start praising Tok Guru (PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat) because it concurs with their views.

This is politics at work again. Because Tok Guru supports Bersih, they are saying that Tok Guru speaks the truth.

Actually whether it is a fatwa from BN or a fatwa from PAS, it has no bearing on non-Muslims. It must be clearly pointed out fatwa rulings are strictly meant for Muslims only.

Why must we all take sides? The non-Muslims should remain neutral. Do not get yourself dragged into the debate just because you are supporting Pakatan Rakyat.

Gen2: The Fatwa Council discredits itself and does a disservice to Islam whenever it interprets the Quran out of context.

The Quran says to reject evil with your hands and feet, with your words and in your mind and hearts if you can't to it physically.

A government that skews the electoral rules is definitely evil even though it was elected. The idolaters who ruled Mecca, before the Prophet overthrew them with violence, surely ruled by consensus if not by election.

While I am not supporting violence nor saying that Bersih 3.0 meant to overthrow the government, it shows that such acts against corrupt governments is sanctioned by Islam.

The Fatwa Council should realise that they do not have the monopoly to interpret the Quran and they should give impartial interpretations free from political agendas.

Pick-A-Bone: The Fatwa Council should be apolitical, not toe the Umno line.

Why can't the committee proscribe that rampant corruption, abuse of public funds, taking of commission when purchasing arms from other countries and the murder of a foreigner in Malaysian soil are against the principles of true Islam?

That they won't is because they have something to benefit by not ruling on such things. Where is the credibility if the committee is not consistent and sincere.

RR: The fatwa council should not embroil itself in politics as it will lose its credibility.

If there is a country of ruled by a dictator, it is natural for the ordinary people to rise up against tyranny. This is called the Arab Spring.

Of course, I feel very sad to see the few rioters the world over damaging public property. And I condemn such action of the erratic and emotional few.

Keturunan Malaysia: I have said more times than not, it is never the organisation (nor the race nor the religion as a whole) that makes a bad name for itself, it is always the people that are managing and running it.

And if you trace far enough and high enough, you may find just a very, very small group of people, or simply just one person, turning the wheel in the wrong direction.
