Pulai Umno Youth and several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have lodged a police report against former Perak menteri besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin over his “rude” statement on the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim.
The report was lodged by Pulai Umno Youth executive secretary Asyik Rahmat at the Tampoi police station at 9.30pm yesterday.
“We, as the people of Johor, are angry and offended by Mohammad Nizar’s statement, implying that the Johor sultan had misused public funds in the purchase of the WWW1 plate number,” he told a press conference in Johor Baru last night.
Also at the press conference were over 50 representatives and members of Pulai Perkasa, Pekida of Kempas Zone, Skudai Kiri Rukun Tetangga and Persatuan Dewan Belia Jaya.
Yesterday, the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Idris in response to Mohammad Nizar’s statement, said the plate number was purchased with the sultan’s personal money and not public funds.
Hence, Pulai Perkasa and the NGos want Mohammad Nizar to openly apologise to the Johor Sultan, saying the sultan had been generous to the people, for instance, through the Jelajah Kembara Mahkota programme.
Johor Wanita Umno chief Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain said the movement regretted Mohammad Nizar's statement, which further exposed his bad behaviour.
“It is better for Mohammad Nizar not to open his mouth and slandering the Johor Sultan as he is not from the state and is ignorant of the Johor sultanate’s background,” she said.
