A blogger charged with sedition for allegedly insulting the late Johor Sultan two years ago, was today acquitted by the Seremban Sessions Court without his defence being called.

NONE Sessions judge M Kunasundary found the prosecution had failed to prove a prima facie case against Khairul Nizam Abd Ghani ( right in photo ).

A total of 19 prosecution witnesses testified in the trial that saw three different judges hearing the case.

Lawyer Mohd Razlan Jalaluddin when contacted confirmed that Khairul Nizam, known by his pen name 'Aduka Taruna' was acquitted.

Khairul Nizam, 31, of Pancor near Seremban, claimed trial to the charge of making a seditious posting with the intention of defaming the Johor sultanate and its people.

He allegedly made the posting sometime between 7.25pm and 9.05pm on Jan 22, 2010.

The accused was charged under  Section 233(1) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which carries a maximum fine of RM50,000 or one year's jail or both upon conviction.
