Public Services Department (PSD) deputy director-general (development) Farida Mohd Ali will carry out the duties of the PSD director-general, pending appointment of a new director-general.

Chief secretary to the government Dr Ali Hamsa said Farida was entrusted to carry out the duties of the PSD director-general, effective yesterday.

The government was considering and evaluating eligible and suitable candidates for the post, he said in a three-paragraph statement issued in Kuala Lumpur today, following the departure of Abu Bakar Abdullah, 57, from the post.

Ali also expressed appreciation and gratitude to Abu Bakar over his contributions throughout his 35-year service with the government.
