Chua: Why involve my wife, is she the partner?
MCA president Chua Soi Lek took a potshot at Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng an hour before their debate for dragging the former's wife into Lim's alleged scandal with a woman who used to work for him.
MCA president Chua Soi Lek took a potshot at Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng an hour before their debate for dragging the former's wife into Lim's alleged scandal with a woman who used to work for him.
Chua was referring to Lim's wife Betty Chew's appeal yesterday to Chua's wife, to stop the MCA president from being cruel in allowing these attacks on Lim and her.
"I have no part in this," claimed Chua at a press conference, and added neither had MCA directed its party members to ask any questions at the recent Malacca assembly sitting.
Chua added: "Why does Betty wants to to appeal to my wife? Is my wife the partner (in the alleged scandal), why bring my wife in?"
"Lim and his wife are not being fair to us. This is his family matter and doesn't involve me," he said.
He said Lim need only to answer "yes" or "no", to the matter and it would be put to rest.
Chua also said the question posed by Malacca Exco member Gan Tian Loo was an innocent question being twisted, and Gan wasn't practising gutter politics.
Legal action
In responding, Lim said, if Gan's question was so innocent, he should just repeat it outside the House so he could pursue legal action.
"Just let people judge who is misbehaving," he added, referring to the smear campaign on him.
Lim added Najib ( left ) could pursue the Mongolian woman's issue in court, if he wanted to.
Chua also defended Najib's decision not to debate with PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.
He claimed Najib had proved he could deliver during his three years as premier, while Anwar had yet to come out with anything to convince the rakyat he could do the same.
Hence, Anwar needs to debate with others to prove his point, said Chua.
He added he agreed with Najib who had said that debating wasn't part of our culture and wouldn't solve anything.
To a question why he chose to debate twice with Lim, he answered it was a challenge and to provide the media something newsworthy to cover.
