PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim “badmouths” Pakatan Rakyat partners - DAP and PAS - behind their backs, claimed estranged Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air (Kita) leader Zamil Ibrahim, challenging the former to deny the allegations.

In a press conference today, Zamil waved a CD purportedly containing a five-minute video clip of Anwar demanding that grassroots Kedah PKR leaders “renegotiate” seats with PAS prior to the March 8, 2008 general election, as the constituencies allocated for PKR were “really bad”.

“I want to reveal this to show the people Anwar’s true colours and the wayang (act) he puts up in front of his coalition partners,” he told reporters at Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) office in Petaling Jaya.

“This will show you the real character of the opposition leader, whom DAP wants to make prime minister,” he said.

NONE According to Zamil ( right ), the video clip was recorded by a PKR division chief during a closed-door party meeting held for the divisions in northern Kedah on Jan 9, 2008 at Yayasan Aman in Penanti, Bukit Mertajam.

However, the meeting was only attended by Anwar, former PKR senator Zamri Yusof and former Gurun division chief B Kalaivanan.

Zamil refused to furnish the video evidence to the media, but instead read out the transcript of the said conversation between the three individuals.

In the excerpt read out loud by Zamil, Anwar condemns the agreement signed between PKR and PAS state leaders to divide 24 state constituencies equally, saying that PKR has settled for rotten seats.

“I really wonder... why you are you so afraid of PAS... what for? They have to understand, Indians don’t support PAS, the Chinese don’t support PAS. Only the village Malays support them. I want you to redo the agreement, the signed deal is a different story.

“Don’t you think I know how you got these seats, these are all the worst of the lot. The good seats have been taken by PAS,” read out Zamil, quoting Anwar.

Anwar has also allegedly complained about the difficulties of bringing DAP in Penang and Sarawak to the table to negotiate on the seats at that time.

‘Anwar challenged to counter claims’

“I challenge Anwar to counter my claims and deny everything I have said. We will give him some time. If he doesn’t, then I will release the contents of the CD,” said Zamil, brushing aside questions on why he revealed the contents now when the meeting had taken place four years ago.

Pressed further that the Pakatan partners could have mended ties after the general election, he insisted that the “situation is still the same”.

“Anwar addressed the national level leaders and grassroots leaders differently. I have noticed it many times when I was a PKR member and I still hear elected PKR representatives complaining about Anwar,” he said.

“This is to show the people that their pact is brittle and unstable,” he reiterated.

On another matter, Zamil also claimed that there are video clippings of eight elected representatives from PKR who were considering defecting from the party, fearful of not being nominated in the 13th general election.

He said the recordings are not in his possession, as he is “still discussing” on whether to reveal the identities of the members of parliament and state assemblypersons involved, as they are still in the party.

According to Zamil, the MPs were caught on camera striking a deal to defect from PKR right after Anwar’s “folly” on Sept 16, 2008 when the latter claimed that 30 BN parliamentarians would defect to the opposition, hence making possible for Pakatan Rakyat to take over the federal government.

Previously, Zamil was accused of being a “BN agent” by PAS parliamentarian Khalid Samad for attempting to entice PKR MPs to crossover in exchange for millions of ringgit.

“Khalid has one CD but we have eight CDs,” he countered, however, refusing to divulge the details until he gets the approval from his “friends”.
