today quoted Rosnah (

) as saying that the Puteri movement views the proposal positively but it should be implemented carefully and comprehensively.
She said the opposition and some of the Umno leaders' call for the implementation of hudud is a positive step.
"We should prepare to move towards comprehensive implementation of hudud laws and work hard to give a clear understanding to the plural society in this country because it is a law with many branches.
"However its theory and implementation must be studied. We don't want implementation that is not comprehensive because this is an Allah's law issue," she was quoted as saying.
She was responding to the Kepala Batas Wanita Umno's proposal which will table a motion on the topic at its divisional meeting to back hudud implemention in the country.
The call by division chief Zabariah Wahab is the second by an Umno leader, after Kemelah assemblyperson Ayub Rahmat proposed its implementation for both Muslims and non-Muslims in Johor.
Umno's Young Ulama wing has also reportedly supported such a move.
Rosnah also stressed that the issue should not be politicised and manipulated for personal gain.
"Hudud laws are part of the Islamic criminal code which is a part of Allah's tenets. Therefore, this law must be upheld, practised and defended by every Muslim and Muslimat.
"Muslims are obliged to support regardless of party, and refrain from making negative comments or say something that will stir up doubts," she added.
