Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim has admitted to recent hiccups in the state government’s procurement process for services.

khalid ibrahim "There are some that were not in line with current state practice. When (we realised it), we called for a state audit, (established) the issue and worked to correct it," Khalid ( left ) told a press conference in Shah Alam today.

He stressed that these irregularities are no longer an issue, as they have been corrected.

He was asked to respond to a Malaysiakini report on irregularities in the procurement of services for a statewide carnival organised in March.

Meanwhile, asked to comment on whether the state intends to sue MCA over the Chinese party’s allegations that over a billion ringgit has been misappropriated during the Talam debt restructuring, Khalid said he will wait and see.

“They say over one billion has been misappropriated. We will wait (for them to prove it).”

Asked about the proposal by Proham’s Ramon Navaratnam for a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) to be set up to investigate the Talam debt restructuring, Khalid said he has no problem if anyone wanted to pay to set up such a committee.

However, he stressed, any such initiative must wait for the audit of the exercise, to be undertaken by five independent local audit firms under the supervision of former federal audit chief Md Salleh Mahmud.
