Cabinet committee to monitor S'gor water situation
The Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Peter Chin Kah Fui, has announced the cabinet will form a special committee to monitor the water situation in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

"The special committee will be chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and its first meeting will be held next week," Chin told reporters today.
He added, the committee comprises himself, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Noh Omar, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Idris Jala and Federal Territories and Urban Well-being Minister Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin.

) also added that the cabinet also felt that the water issue in Selangor is a hot topic, particularly the call of
water rationing
by its water concessionaire Syabas.
"The cabinet also wishes to look into the announcement of the Selangor government to take over Syabas' operations," added Chin.
Asked if Syabas could continue with their operations for water rationing, Chin indicated that the cabinet will also discuss the matter.
"We will announce to the public as soon as the committee members have met and make their decisions," said Peter.
However, when asked if the federal government is able to solve its crisis with the Selangor government before the 13th general election is held, Chin refused to answer.
"No comment," he said.
