'Kit Siang, you can help BN prevent racial clashes'

report, Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor yesterday urged opposition leaders, especially Lim, to work with BN to prevent a repeat of the racial clashes of May 13, 1969.
He said BN does not want that black dot in history to be repeated, hence jeopardising stability, peace and harmony.
“I hope they (the opposition coalition) will do what they say. Don't cakap tak serupa bikin (people must keep their word),” he reportedly said.
The Putrajaya MP was responding to Lim's statement that Pakatan is ready to work closely with Umno and BN to ensure that there will be no repeat of May 13 in the next general election.
“I am still waiting for response from Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and Prime Minister Najib (Abdul) Razak ... Why (are they silent) if they really do not want any repeat of May 13?” Lim

Tengku Adnan however put the blame for the 1969 incident on a small group of opposition leaders and supporters who, he claimed, had staged a street procession to celebrate their electoral victory in a few parliamentary seats.
“Whoever wins (the election) must be patient, calm and not too excited. When one is too excited, he would tend to (take) inappropriate action. Eventually it (will) affect the multi-racial society,” he added.
