Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar has mocked Pakatan Rakyat’s display of disunity by having three different Merdeka Day themes in the states it controls.

" Sebangsa, Senegara, Sejiwa, Tapi Tiga Tema " (One Nation, One Country, One Soul but three themes)," wrote Khairy in a tweet this afternoon.

"They do not seem unified," wrote Khairy in another tweet.

Khairy (left) also mocked national laureate A Samad Said who headed a committee to choose Pakatan’s theme.

Pakatan on Aug 1 announced “ Sebangsa, Senegara, Sejiwa ” as its alternative theme for Merdeka Day, as opposed to the federal government’s “ Janji Ditepati ” (Promises Fulfilled), which some critics say does not reflect nationalism and it is part of BN’s election campaign theme.

However, Pakatan today announced that only Penang and Selangor would be adopting the Pakatan panel's theme.

This was because Kedah and Kelantan had already formulated their own themes before Samad’s committee decided on the matter.

Cheras Umno division chief Syed Ali Syed Abas Alhabshee also questioned Pakatan Rakyat's unity, saying this showed that the coalition could never be united in arriving at decisions.

“There will be an impact on the country and the people if they rule. This proves that Pakatan is politicisig the Merdeka theme, which has now been accepted by the people.

“The people have to realise that even in a small issue Pakatan fails to act in unison.

“Then, what about other important matters requiring major decisions? It will be chaotic if they advance their own ideologies,” Syed Ali said.
