The piratisation of our nation's wealth

PKR: Don't transfer RM50bil in KTMB assets to crony
Anonymous1234@:
Knowing that their chances are 50-50 in winning the next GE, BN under PM Najib Razak has been off-loading government-linked companies (Proton, Pos Malaysia, Penang Port, etc) to his cronies, especially to business tycoon Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary.
This strategy is two-pronged:
1) It will ensure that the country's jewels are in safe hands in case the opposition wins.
2) If BN still retains the majority, the PM/BN will have more ringgit in his coffers to perpetuate his rule.
For sure, talk of transparency by the PM in his ‘transformasi' programmes is just that - talk only - to hoodwink the rakyat, while the plundering goes on unabated. God save Malaysia.
Vgeorgemy: PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli, we need to be serious on our policy on the privatisation of the nation's wealth, which is being done without proper due process.
The time has come for us to say that we will expropriate the assets or cancel the deal if it is found to be against public interest. Once the policy is made known, the interested parties will be careful of the consequences.
Akutuan: KTMB (Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad) has been losing millions of taxpayers' money. There is nothing wrong if Syed Mokhtar's MMC can turn around KTMB.
Just make sure the deal is fair to the government and the rakyat. KTMB is very sick, someone needs to cure it.
Ex-Wfw: If there is any party wanting to improve the rail freight services, it can lease the rail tracks from the government, why should the land bank be privatised?
TimsTime: The rakyat cannot just comment on blogs. We have to get out and stop them from selling off the country's assets.
BN is purposely bankrupting the country so that its rival is left with nothing when they take over. How cruel can you get. One day, it will be the turn of Petronas.
Jedi_Who: It looks like they are stripping the country's assets and hand them over to their cronies. Politicians get away with this but it is actually daylight robbery.
Shanandoah: KTMB should be closed down. It is serving no useful purpose. National transportation has already been taken over by bus companies and lorry operators at cheaper rates.
Train services are poor and filthy. The employees are not doing their work in keeping the services clean and efficient. They behave like passengers and not workers to maintain efficiency in running the railway network.
Its land could be put to better use to build roads throughout the length and breadth of the country as our exisiting roads are already very overcrowded, resulting in numerous accidents on a daily basis.
Lim Chong Leong: They will bulldoze this deal through before GE13 in the hope that Pakatan government will not be able to terminate without compensation, like Syabas.
Ramachandran Muniandy: Where is MCA and Gerakan? They are barking like mad dogs in Selangor, Kedah and Penang.
Comparing the RM50 billion to the amount spend by PKR government, it's a pinch of salt in the ocean. Or are they also getting some dog biscuits from Umno?
Anonymous_5fb: Umno knows its days as federal government will be over soon. That's why they are in the process of 'piratisation' (not privatisation, by the way) - or already done so - of key strategic facilities like sea ports, KTMB, airports, TV stations, water treatment and distribtion, etc, etc, to their conies.
Syed Mokhtar is one example. Need I say more?
Jedi_Who: Rafizi is right. These crooked politicians are acquiring landbanks similar to that of Felda's but in different ways.
Owning land is king. Ask yourself, if the current price of land is high, just imagine what it will be like when they corner the property market.
Mysterious 'Muhyiddin to be PM' posters appear in Johor
Ferdtan: Assuming the mysterious posters supporting Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to succeed Najib Abdul Razak as the premier before the 13th general elections are from Umno, it is most unlikely to be from Muhyiddin's camp.
He cannot be so audacious in such moves to 'dethrone' his boss; unless he was not aware of his followers' good intentions.
The GE is looming and no member of the party dares to be seen as the spoiler which may bring disrepute to the BN coalition.
This begs the question whether the posters may be planted by Najib's camp to checkmate the deputy chief's ambition.
Previously in front of all the pressmen, didn't former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, in the thick of rumours of his deputy's perceived disloyalty, asked Anwar Ibrahim to his face whether he was plotting his downfall?
In front of all witnesses, of course he denied it. (Even that didn't save him, he was sacked not long after that).
Is Najib's camp plotting a similar sting to force Muhyddin to come out with a statement of loyalty to his boss?
Mushiro: Mahathir has started his moves. He sees this as his final chance to promote his son Mukhriz. There will be more to come.
Longjaafar: If it is through succession, Muhyiddin will never become PM because Najib is so much younger than him.
Muhyiddin's supporters must have seen the amount of money and mega-projects being dished out to Najib's supporters and friends, and they must be getting impatient to get some of the spoils.
Sarajun Hoda: Reap what you sow. BN has been pitting Pakatan leaders against each other e.g. PAS and DAP, on the hudud issue.
Even if this is an irresponsible act by Pakatan supporters, blame BN for giving them this idea. The Malay land issue in Penang, see how it boomerangs back to Umno?
They pitted former Perak MB Nizar Jamaluddin against the Johor sultan. Anwar against royalty. Nik Aziz Nik Mat of PAS against Karpal Singh of DAP. Water company Syabas against Selangor government. Umno, blame yourself.
Paul Warren: But isn't that what is happening within Umno now? Not just Umno, BN, too. Whatever Najib wishes, Muhyiddin dashes.
The latest being the section 114A review suggested by Najib, but the rest of the cabinet concurs with Muhyiddin.
