Penang BN Youth to submit letter to buy Taman Manggis land

The Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth will submit an official offer letter to the state government to buy the Taman Manggis land in Jalan Zainal Abidin in another 10 days.
Its chief, Oh Tong Keong, said the offer letter was vital as the movement would set up a company to implement the second phase of the people's housing project on the 0.45-hectare land and would not want any problem to arise later.
"The company will be named Taman Manggis Phrase II Sdn Bhd and will be led by five housing developers from the state and Kuala Lumpur, who are in support of our initiative to buy the land," he told reporters here today.
Last Thursday, BN Youth received an offer letter to purchase the land, which was personally sent by Komtar assemblyman Ng Wei Aik.
Oh, however, questioned the sincerity of the DAP-led state government in making the offer as the letter did not follow procedures.
"The letter was personally signed by Ng and not by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng," he said.
Prior to this, BN Youth had disclosed that the land, which was meant for people's housing project, was sold to a private company that would build a 30-storey building to house a 19-storey hotel, six-storey hospital and five-storey car park.
Lim explained that the land had to be sold as the size was insufficient for the housing project.
