Independent MP for Nibong Tebal Tan Tee Beng has lashed out at the chief minister’s political secretary for trying to imply that his father is corrupt.

Tee Beng had described Ng Wei Aik, who is also the Komtar assemblyperson, as a “rottweiler” who simply shoots his mouth off and made serious allegations against his dad.

Tee Beng said his father’s personal home in Silverton, at a luxurious condominium along Gurney Drive, was not bought with the rakyat’s money.

He added that his dad - former Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) president Tan Gim Hwa - was confused why Ng raised the issue when he held a press conference in Komtar two days ago.

Last week, Gim Hwa has taken Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to task, asking him to run a responsible government, while denying that land was sold cheaply to private developers when he was in the MPPP, which he lef in 1996.

“If Ng is implying that my dad is corrupt, say so directly. Do not hide under the CM’s table. If he says it openly, I will face it,” he told reporters during a press conference today.

“My dad is not upset and even feels that Ng is unfit for him to respond to. But I am very upset with this rottweiler of Penang. I am not a pet keeper but will entertain him,” he added.

When asked if he would initiate legal action against Ng if he publicly accuses his dad of corruption, Tee Beng said, “It depends on what he says.”

Lim’s bungalow questioned

Tee Beng surprised reporters today when he appeared alongside Gerakan Youth leaders to respond to Ng’s questions and claims.

Tee Beng and his father were sacked from Gerakan in 2000 for criticising then-state party chief Koh Tsu Koon.

However, Tee Beng said he was “invited” by Gerakan to join the press event as they had also wanted to question Ng and his boss on an issue about which the latter has yet to answer.

On Monday, Ng, the state DAP Youth chief, had questioned Gim Hwa about his home, asking if it was the “largest unit in the block and how much he had paid for it”.

Ng had also urged Gim Hwa to reveal the unit’s sale and purchase agreement for public scrutiny when he was responding to the former Gerakan founding member on the sale of state land.

penang gerakan youth pc 160310 tan kah leong Meanwhile, state Gerakan Youth vice-chief Tan Kah Leong ( left ) challenged Lim to reply to questions surrounding his residential home - a bungalow along Jalan Pinhorn - which he has been renting for about three years.

Lim had publicly said in 2009 that the chief minister’s official residence was in a very bad condition and infested with white ants, announcing his decision to shift “temporarily” to a bungalow unit in Jalan Pinhorn.

Kah Leong said Lim had never issued a report on the progress of the renovation and treatment of white ants at the official residence, alleging that Lim had failed to reveal the identity of the bungalow owner.

“Why did the bungalow owner purchase the unit for RM2.5 million, renovate the home for RM1.5 milion and then rent it out to Lim?” asked Kah Leong.

“Until today, Lim has yet to introduce the bungalow owner or reveal the contract signed between him and the latter to rent the place,” he added.

Kah Leong said if Lim dared to reply to the above questions and publicise the contract and details of the rented bungalow, the party would “guarantee” that Gim Hwa do the same for his Silverton home.

While Lim reportedly pays a RM4,000 monthly rental for the bungalow unit, as chief minister, he is being provided with a housing allowance for his personal residence.
