Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has sent a legal notice to a BN Youth leader for accusing him of being corrupt, which Lim considers "maliciously and deviously uttered" in relation to his rented house on Jalan Pinhorn.

NONE Lim, the DAP secretary-general sent the notice to state Gerakan Youth deputy chief H'ng Khoon Leng ( right ), who had allegedly uttered the words on Sept 24.

Lim's political secretary Ng Wei Aik read out the notice, sent through Karpal Singh and Co, to reporters today. It demands that H'ng retracts his statement and apologises within seven days.

"The retraction and apology, of course, must contain words approved by us and must be published prominently in the electronic and mass media, including the Internet," states the notice which was sent on Sept 26.

H'ng, who is also state BN Youth information chief, had questioned Lim's relationship to his landlady, who is a director and shareholder of a company with a subsidiary that bought a plot of land in Taman Manggis from the state government.

He had said on Sept 24: "For the past three years, I have been saying that he (Lim) is corrupt. In many press conferences, even on my Facebook profile, I have always said Lim is corrupt, but now when the election is near, he (Lim) suddenly wants to take action against me for saying this."

When contacted, H’ng said he has yet to receive the letter.

When told that it was sent to the state BN Tanjung service centre in Lebuh Macallum, H’ng said, “Ng should be more professional, the letter should be sent to Penang Gerakan headquarters in Jalan Macalister.”

H’ng said he would reserve comment until he has seen the letter, adding he was not afraid of what lies ahead of him.

“I might drop by to collect the letter from Karpal Singh’s office (in Jalan Greenhall) later,” he told Malaysiakini .

At a press conference last week, H'ng and state Gerakan vice-chief Tan Kah Leong revealed details of the woman, including her full name and her business enterprises.

H'ng had earlier referred to her as ‘Ms P'.

'Lim never answered allegations'

Lim then demanded that H'ng and Tan apologise and retract their allegations within 48 hours, which expired at noon yesterday.

However, H'ng continued to call on Lim to come clean on his relationship with his landlady and the company that won the tender (for the) Taman Manggis (land).

He said Lim had not answered allegations of "wastage, conflict of interest and corruption" in renting a two-storey, fully furnished bungalow on Jalan Pinhorn for personal use, for which he pays RM5,000 a month.

Lim as chief minister was entitled to a housing allowance of RM4,000 a month. The extra RM1,000 for the rental is paid out of Lim’s personal funds.

Gerakan continued to question the matter, despite Lim unveiling his stamped tenancy agreement.

Ms P, via her cousin, state executive councillor and Sungai Puyu assemblyperson Phee Boon Poh, has said the expose by Gerakan had defamed her and placed her under much stress, while her family said legal redress would be considered to resolve the matter.
