A recent survey by Merdeka Centre has found that the number has rocketed to 57 percent from the 32 percent in the earlier survey conducted in November 2009.
The latest survey, conducted earlier this month, also noted that sentiments on other economic indicators were lower in tandem with the markedly drop of Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman's approval rating to below 50 percent.
These sentiments were widespread across all communities polled, including Muslim bumiputeras.
The strongest dissatisfaction with the state economy was observed among the non-Muslim bumiputera and Chinese voters which stood at 64 and 63 percent respectively.
Among Muslim bumiputera voters, half of the them have expressed unhappiness over the matter.
Price of consumer goods and services received the most disapproval with eight out of every 10 respondents were disgruntled over it, a 10 percent increase since November 2009.
This is the second and last release from the survey carried out by the Merdeka Centre for Opinion Research between Sept 6 to 17, to gauge voters’ perceptions of current developments in Sabah.
A total of 829 registered voters, comprising 51 percent Muslim bumiputera, 29 percent non-Muslim bumiputera and 20 percent Chinese respondents, reflective of the electoral profile of Sabah were interviewed via fixed line and mobile telephones.
The poll was jointly-funded by Merdeka Centre and a regional consultancy firm.
