Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has slammed Utusan Malaysia ’s front-page depicting Pakatan Rakyat’s alleged shadow cabinet.

Lim described the Umno paper’s reporting as “BN-Umno’s evil political slander”.

He added that earlier Prime Minister Najib Razak had criticised Pakatan for not being fit to govern the country because it does not have a shadow cabinet although it has been explained that there would be three leaders from each component party for every portfolio.

“We are more concerned about policies that benefit the people and not personality or position,” said Lim at a press conference.

“We are not crazy for position, unlike BN or Umno,” he added, while waving the paper in front of journalists.

The DAP secretary-general questioned how the newspaper could rely on a blog posting by an Umno supporter to make it appear as if this information was from Pakatan.

He reminded that this was the same “bad and malicious” blogger who had tried to defame his underaged son with sexual misconduct allegations.

“How can they accept a slander by an Umno blogger to be a source from Pakatan? He seems to produce, act in and watch his own movies,” he added.

“This is not from Pakatan. We do not have such a line-up. We are not crazy for positions,” he said.

When asked what would happen if Pakatan Rakyat were to actually seize control of Putrajaya at the 13th general election, Lim said the line-up of the cabinet would be decided then and there, “just like we did in Penang”.

The Bagan MP said that Utusan ’s attempt to place Pakatan on the same level as BN - being crazy for position - is mischievous.

He condemned the BN for being a hypocrite to demand a shadow cabinet from Pakatan when it does not have one in Pakatan-controlled states like Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and Selangor.

“So who is to be menteri besar in these states? Where is their state shadow cabinet? They do not even know who would be their head of government in states not controlled by them,” he stressed.
