The Penang government has challenged BN to lodge a police report - as it has threatened to do so - when the coalition alleged that the former had sold the Taman Manggis land twice .

However, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s political secretary Ng Wei Aik said he will not hesitate to lodge a counter report over the BN’s “false” report if its leaders fail to admit their own mistake in comprehending the meaning of “debenture”.

NONE State BN Youth chief Oh Tong Keong ( right ) had given Lim 24 hours to explain the matter, which he did on Friday, but BN coordinator for Komtar Loh Chye Teik is still not satisfied with the clarification.

“Then a police report should be lodged without further delay,” said Ng, who is Komtar assemblyperson.

“Please let me know when the police report will be lodged, and I will also lodge a police report immediately after them,” he added.

“ If Oh dares not to do so, then he should admit his own mistake in making a false claim on the state government,” stressed Ng.

‘BN, where is the RM22 million?’

Oh had said despite the land being mortgaged to a bank, Lim had accepted the BN’s one percent payment to purchase the 1.1-acre land - purportedly earmarked for affordable housing - on Oct 3.

But Lim had insisted that BN pay up the RM22 million which it still owed the state for the land before the administration could alienate the land to a company which the coalition leaders had set up.

The company, however, does not have any BN leaders as its directors, which is one of the conditions for the state to hand over the land to the latter.

One of the directors for the company - which will supposedly build public housing - is former Town planning director Khoo Boo Soon, who has come out strongly to oppose the state government over hillslope development.

Ng questioned why should the CM be asked to take legal action against Oh, and further queried the logic behind BN’s request and the quality of its leaders for asking this.

Ng said if the BN does not wish to admit and apologise over their mistakes while insisting on their claims, they should proceed with the police report.

He added they should stop spreading the “baseless” allegation that Lim has transacted the land twice, when its title is still with the state government.

He insisted that the state BN Youth lodge the police report if they continue to believe in their claims.

CM: Land can be sold to BN

BN leaders have refused to accept the explanation that with the consent of Kuala Lumpur International Dental Centre - the company which won the bid to acquire the land via an open tender - the land could be sold to the Penang BN.

“Oh, please be man enough to proceed with your police report against the state government,” said Ng.

“Why should the chief minister and I be asked to tender our resignations when we have not done anything wrong?”

Ng also called on the police to step in and investigate the BN’s claims, saying that it is very serious.

However, if those claims cannot be established, then the police must take action against Penang BN for lodging a false police report, added Ng.

“I would like to advise BN leaders not to waste time in making all sorts of baseless claims,”said Ng.

“If they are not willing to pay the remaining amount, just tell us right now and we would know how to take the next course of action,” he added.
