Lembah Pantai MP proposes creche at Parliament

Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar today proposed that a creche or mini day care centre be set up at Parliament House for the benefit of women MPs, staff and media practitioners.
The facility could be most useful to young mothers who still breastfed their babies, she told a news conference at the lobby of Parliament House.
Women parliamentarians could leave their babies in the creche while they grappled with the issues concerning the nation, she said.
“Many parliaments around the world provide nursery facilities for members and staff. It is time our parliament caught up with the rest.
“If only a creche is set up, it would come as a great relief to young mothers, including staff and media practitioners, who now leave their babies at home,” she said.
Nurul Izzah said she would write an official letter to the Parliament officials on the matter.
