Penang Malays and bumiputera may soon find themselves out of hearth and home as a result of Pakatan-led state government policies, lamented a delegate at the 66th Umno general assembly in Kuala Lumpur today.

NONE “This is ethnic cleansing via real estate development,” bemoaned Penang delegate Abdul Rahim Saibu while debating the president’s address on the second day of the general assembly.

The Bayan Baru Umno representative described the lack of bumiputera housing in Penang as caused by developers being allowed to forgo the quota via donations to the Bumiputera Development Fund.

“It has accumulated to RM33 million. Money which should have been used to build houses for bumiputera.”

If they take over Putrajaya the same fate will befall the nation, he warned.

He also accused Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng of not fulfilling DAP election promises of building affordable housing.

“Not even one has been built,” claimed Abdul Rahim.

He also praised the appointment of Gerakan leader Teng Chang Yeow as Penang BN chief as the best thing to ever happen to the party machinery in the state.

“Teng has given new hope to Penang BN,” Abdul Rahim said, adding that under the new state BN chief’s tenure component parties has never been more united and filled with purpose.
