It is up to local PAS leaders to decide if former PAS deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa would still be fielded as candidate for the upcoming election, said party president Abdul Hadi Awang said.

NONE “That issue (of cadidacy) is not my right, it is the (Bachok) division’s,” pro-PAS portal Buletin Online quoted him saying today.

“Only God knows his fate, even I don’t know mine... just wait for the nomination,” he reportedly said.

The Bachok MP was unceremoniously dropped from the party’s syura council following a meeting on Jan 13, but the issue was kept mum until recently.

The decision to drop him made for allegedly breaching the council’s rules, but the nature of the breach was not made public.

Although Nasharudin said he has yet to receive any official notification of the dismissal, the party’s spiritual advisor Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat was quoted saying this is not a major issue.

“The pronouncement of divorce has already been made, if the letter of divorce doesn’t come, it is still a divorce... the issue of not receiving the show-cause letter is secondary,” the Malay daily Sinar Harian quoted him saying today.
