In a rare show of solidarity, DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang has expressed support for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's call for armed intruders in Sabah to surrender unconditionally .

NONE In a press release yesterday, Lim said all Malaysians regardless of race, religion, region or political affiliation fully endorse to all necessary measures by the government and the security forces to deal with the matter.

"There are legitimate dissent and numerous criticisms on many issues involving the handling of the month-long invasion by Sulu armed militants resulting in the loss of lives of eight police commandos, which should not have happened at all.

"But this is not the time to ventilate them as they are all secondary to the primary issue of re-asserting our national sovereignty and ending all threats to the security and safety of the people of Sabah and the security forces personnel," he said.

Lim said that it is for this reason that he would put aside his criticisms while urging all political leaders to stop making baseless allegations during this period of crisis and put national interest above everything else.

NONE "Irresponsible and baseless allegations have also been made against Pakatan Rakyat leaders, in particular Anwar Ibrahim ( far right ) over the incursions by the Sulu militants," said Lim.

On Sultan Jamalul Kiram III's unilateral call for a ceasefire , Lim said that there was no basis nor merit to it since the former's troops have slain Malaysian security personnel.

Lim also noted that the intruders had also treated the corpses of fallen police personnel - whom he described as national heroes - in the most "harrowing and bestial" manner.

Meanwhile, Lim also urged Najib to heed Pakatan's call for an emergency sitting of Parliament to support all necessary measures to tackle the intrusion.
