Despite being funded by taxpayers, Tanda Putera is currently being screened like an "anti-national underground movie", said DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang.

Commenting on yet another closed-door screening of the movie last night, Lim said that the Najib administration was being selective of its screening audience.

NONE Last night, the movie was screened for about 600 International Islamic University (UIA) students. The media was turned away from the tightly guarded event.

"What is shocking and deplorable is the 'inducement' for the selected 600 students to the 'private screening' – the  award of 'Star Points' for UIA’s participatory merit point system.

"(Furthermore) it is compulsory for Police Undergraduate Voluntary Corps and Air Force Reserve Officer Training Unit," said Lim in a statement today.

Lim said that Najib should explain why the film was been screened to selected audiences despite cabinet deeming the film " inappropriate " for public screening.

The last known screening of the movie was held for some 3,000 Felda settlers.

Funded by National Film Development Corporation and the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), the film depicts the trials and tribulations faced by second prime minister Abdul Razak following the May 13 riots.

The first portion of the film deals with the riots. Although Malays and Chinese were depicted causing harm to each other, the latter was depicted as the antagonist more often .
