The Education Ministry will take action against a teacher who allegedly insulted security forces battling armed intruders in Lahad Datu, Sabah.
In a press release today, Education Ministry director Abd Ghafar Mahmud said the move was necessary because teachers are supposed to display patriotism.
"A teacher is supposed to fulfil his duty with full responsibility and be the model patriot for society, especially to students," he said.
Abd Ghafar said the insulting statements had hurt the feelings of the family of security forces who died during the Lahad Datu intrusion and brought shame to the teaching fraternity.
The teacher, from Kelantan, allegedly made the the insult on his Facebook page.
