The prime minister should disclose how many of the Filipinos in the Sabah intrusion hold Malaysian ICs, said PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli.

This is in the light of yesterday's allegations that the alleged Agbimudin @ Azzimudie Kiram is a Malaysian and was even a former assistant district officer (DO) in Kudat, Sabah.

"Confirmation by a spokesperson for a group ... that Azzimudie Kiram was an officer of the state government continues to raise questions about the real background of the conflict war in Lahad Datu,” said Rafizi in a statement today.

"Is Azzimudie Kiram a Malaysian citizen who had been given a blue IC?

NONE “How many among the armed intruders (in the Lahad Datu incident) possess blue ICs?” he asked.

Yesterday, an article published in a Filipino portal InterAksyson quoted a Sulu sultanate spokesperson as "confirming" that Azzimudie (left) had indeed served as a district officer in Kudat.

Abraham Idjirani claimed that while Azzimudie did serve in Kudat, he was still holding a Filipino citizenship and was never given a Malaysian citizenship.

"They (Azzimudie) said, 'give us identity cards’, but Sabah authorities told them, 'even if we don't give you, you own Sabah anyway’," Idjirani was quoted as saying.

NONE However, when contacted today, Rafizi ( right ) maintained that Azzimudie did hold Malaysian citizenship, saying this was based on the information that the party had obtained from locals and villagers in Sabah who had known of Azzimudie's tenure as an assistant DO.

"It was based on this information that we then conducted a search in the Sabah civil service and found his name was listed there," he said.

"Many of the Filipinos who came in at that time hold dual citizenship. When they are here, they are Malaysians; when they are in the Philippines, they are Filipinos," he told Malaysiakini .

Rafizi made the allegation about Azzimudie's tenure in the Malaysian civil service during a press conference yesterday, after producing a document which revealed that a man named Datu Agbimudin Kiram had acted as a district officer in Kudat in the year 1974.
