Waytha, promises, promises - that's all you'll get

YOURSAY 'There's no time for BN to do anything. The general election is around the corner. Therefore, the most you will get are promises.'

PM finally to meet Hindraf leaders tomorrow

your say Ghkok: The meeting between PM Najib Razak and Hindraf is scheduled to take place today. Any meeting that takes place now will not be able to produce an outcome other than a "promise" to do something.

There's no time for BN to do anything. The general election is around the corner. Therefore, the most you will get are "promises".

So after today's meeting, is that what Hindraf chief P Waythamoorty is going to tell his members - that he got a "promise" from Najib? Is that any good?

Is that supposed to be some groundbreaking historic earth-shattering event that will persuade a few million Indians to vote BN? If that's the case, my condolences to Malaysia.

Anonymous #37078596: Hindraf should go with an open mind. In politics, there are no permanent friends or enemies. When Pakatan Rakyat shunned Hindraf, it is only right for Hindraf to explore other possibilities as long as it sticks to its goals.

Aries46: Best of luck to you, Waytha. Hindraf could do with whatever support that it can garner, regardless of whether it is from Pakatan or BN.

But bear in mind that Najib has to sign your blueprint and also transfer all the current MIC-allocated seats to Hindraf as it was your demand that Pakatan let Hindraf take on all MIC-nominated candidates.

Furthermore, you will be negotiating with the very architects and enforcers of 55 years of Indian suppression and marginalisation.

Will the warlords in Umno honour the pledges regardless of Najib's performance in the general election?

Appum: This is all a political game. But surely the leaders can to an extent analyse the game and get the drift. Somehow I see that Hindraf leaders don't seem to be able to do that.

They are going back to the ‘master' who outlawed them and labelled them all sorts of names. Yet they seem to be able to swallow all these. Where is their sense of dignity?

You mean beggars are not choosers? Rightly so, their behaviour seems to point to begging for tuppence from Pakatan or Umno.

All you need is to fill up my bowl and I shall be in my best behaviour. Good luck to you all.

Black Mamba: BN created Hindraf's woes and miseries over a half century and now it's embracing the mother of all their grouses. How funny and ironic.

Lets Be Fair: This is purely a democratic process; if not given a time frame for negotiation, then Hindraf has the right to go it alone or with any party that it sees to transform with.

Politics is about sharing the cake. You can't have it all. It's intriguing to see how political demographics change when you least expect it or take for granted.

James_3392: MIC, being a partner of Umno for 55 years, could not get the ruling BN to accede to its requests to improve well-being of Malaysian Indians. On what basis will Najib find it reasonable to give in to Hindraf's demands?

Rakyat-in-Grief: It will be an insult to MIC if Najib talks to Hindraf. MIC had supported BN all the way for 55 years as a coalition partner. It's surely a sign that BN is abandoning MIC.

Hbasill: I am an Indian who have worked hard and succeeded through the grace of God and know that Pakatan is the way for change because only through a Pakatan government can the needs of all Malaysians be achieved.

But I respect dissenting views as democracy allows diverse opinions for the benefit of all right-thinking individuals.

Iloveallmalaysians: Najib's empty promises won't work? So Anwar's promises will work then?

So far the Indians have not seen Pakatan do anything for them in any state they hold, yet people here think that Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim will keep his promises to them. Jokers.

Fairnessforall: It amazes me that Hindraf cybertroopers actually believe that all Indians support Hindraf.

They don't seem to realise that only a very small percentage of Indians are Hindraf supporters, especially those who are vying for the seats Hindraf is demanding.

Waytha has been fasting for 15 days - where are all his supporters, how come there is no big gathering where Waytha is fasting to show their support for him?

Hindraf cybertroopers need to get out of their illusion that Pakatan is doomed because Najib agreed to meet Hindraf.

Even looking at the comments in Malaysiakini , only about 10 percent are Hindraf supporters and even then it's the same handful of Hindraf cybertroopers who make it seem as if Hindraf is powerful.

Pakatan can ignore Hindraf as the Malays and Chinese and at least more than 50 percent of the Indians are with Pakatan. If Pakatan loses, it will be because of the phantom voters and cheating and not because of Indian votes.

Wathya, make sure you demand for the 10 seats from PM as part of agreement to the blueprint, as what you had demanded from Pakatan.

LittleGiant: Najib is extremely desperate to win the Indian votes in GE13. His BN coalition could even proceed to sign Hindraf's blueprint. What happens after that?

Can Hindraf leaders be so naive to declare their support to BN and go all out to ensure BN's victory in the next elections? Will it be possible for Hindraf to bury its rivalry with MIC overnight?

Do they really believe that BN will respect the blueprint and solve all of the Indian community's woes straightaway?

Do we have to remind Hindraf leaders that it is Umno that holds the trump card to decide who gets what, when and how, and the decision of the courts too may not be in favour of Hindraf?

It will be 'exciting' see Hindraf campaigning for BN, a regime that is corrupt to the core.

Retnam: Now that Najib is going to sign the Hindraf blueprint, it is interesting to see how he will implement the clauses in the blueprint, especially the part about stopping institutionalised racism.

I can't wait to see this happen.
