DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang has predicted that Perlis and Negri Sembilan are within Pakatan Rakyat's reach in the 13th general election, thus increasing the number of Pakatan state governments from five in 2008 to seven in 2013.

NONE In  an exclusive interview with Sin Chew Daily , the Ipoh Timor MP expressed confidence that the coalition can retain its power in Selangor, Penang, Kedah and Kelantan, and recapture Perak.

With Perlis and Negri Sembilan in its bag, he claimed Pakatan's hope to take Putrajaya was very feasible.

However, Lim ( left ) conceded that the PAS-led Kedah government is in a shaky situation.

Even so, Lim said, the 'political tsunami' in the 2008 general election has yet to reach its peak.

“In the last general election, the anti-establishment wind started from the north and stopped at Negri Sembilan. It was a contained political tsunami, not full tsunami. It has yet to reach its peak.

“The tsunami will only subside when it reaches the peak. I believe there will be a bigger political tsunami in the coming general election that will hit the whole nation,” Sin Chew Daily quotes Lim as saying.

He said a power shift was possible in Perlis as the determination to change is strongly felt by Pakatan in the state.

Pakatan won 15 state seats in Negri Sembilan in the 2008 election, short of four seats to take over the state government.

On Johor, a frontline state for the Pakatan battle, Lim said Umno and MCA would be uprooted if Pakatan wins one-third of the parliamentary and state constituencies there.

“Johor is not only the birthplace of Umno but also the stronghold for both Umno and MCA. If Johor is taken by Pakatan, Umno and MCA will not be able to revive their strength.”

His decision to contest the Gelang Patah parliamentary constituency in Johor, said Lim, was like setting fire in Umno’s backyard as the ruling party was focusing its attention on Selangor.

He did not rule out the possibility that PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim ( right ) will move from his Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat in Penang to contest in Perak.
