Sixty-five percent of the 300,000 Indian voters will support the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the forthcoming general election, said Perak MIC deputy chairperson R Ganesan.

He said today that the party could see the trend among Indian voters in the state has been returning to the BN.

NONE “The obvious reason for the shift is due to the fact that Indian voters generally are disappointed with the opposition's failure to deliver its election promises especially in the states controlled by them,” he told Bernama.

Ganesan ( right ), who is also Perak state assembly speaker, said there was also no solid evidence to show that they (opposition) had helped the poor Indians in the state.

Ganesan also denied a recent online media report alleging the party was facing an uphill battle in its struggle to secure four state seats in Perak.

The party lost all the state seats allocated to it, namely Pasir Panjang, Behrang, Sungkai and Hutan Melintang, in the previous general election.

Media reports have indicated that MIC was prepared to give up the Behrang and Pasir Panjang state seats in exchange for the Buntong state constituency, where Indians make up 48 percent of its population, while the other seat is still at the negotiation stage.
