Cut the drama, MACC, raid Taib's office as well

YOURSAY ‘I cannot believe an experienced lawyer could be so ‘bodoh' as to leave incriminating evidence around for one full week...'

MACC raids office of S'wak lawyer implicated in video

ONG: The Global Witness video was released on March 19. Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) raid was carried out one week later, on March 26.

I cannot believe an experienced lawyer could be so bodoh (stupid) as to leave incriminating evidence around for one full week, waiting for enforcement and regulatory authorities to come and collect it.

I, therefore, wonder what documents the MACC officials have managed to collect.

Onyourtoes: MACC, you think you are being efficient? Why do you need videos produced by foreigners before moving your butt? Are you saying all these years you know nothing of what was going on in Sarawak?

Why show your bravery to lawyer Alvin Chong only. What about the cousins of Sarawak CM Abdul Taib Mahmud - Norlia Abdul Rahman and Fatimah Abdul Rahman - who are at the epicenter of this corruption allegation?

Anticorruptleaders: The allegations of corruption made by the two lawyers and Taib's two cousins in the video involves Taib. So far, Taib has not taken any action against these four persons for libel.

Neither did he himself lodge any police report against them or made any formal complaint against the two lawyers with the Advocates Association of Sarawak for making false accusations concerning him.

Taib should be mobilising all his resources to clear and protect his name if he is not guilty. But until today he has not. So?

MACC, are you all going to raid Taib's office and his house and interrogate him on the corruption allegations? Your action or inaction will decide your credibility in the eyes of Malaysians.

Are you not worried and concerned that Malaysians would think that you too have been bought by Taib?

Swipenter: Why no simultaneous raids on the offices of Taib and his cousins? MACC, did you also request assistance from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and its Finance Ministry at the same time?

Heavywater: All this is pre-election ‘wayang kulit'. If BN wins, no action will be taken. PM Najib Razak is more scared of Taib Mahmud then Taib of Najib.

Najib depends on Taib for his support and financing, so how can he take action? This raid is only trying to please the public in general.

Gggg: The graft video was released on March 19, but only after Najib broke his silence did the MACC acted. Mmmm, what does that mean?

Whatsup: This means MACC is headless and directionless against those equally corrupted as they.

We all know how it will end - the lawyers and those two cousins will be found guilty of misrepresentation and they acted entirely on their own for their own gains, and that the rotten head will be absolved of all allegations, don't we?

This is where the idiom - ‘it takes a thief to catch a thief'- needs re-writing. Mr PM, if you are truly serious about getting rid of corruption, you will know what to do to get your mandate at GE13 - jail this rotten head, as well as the grand traitor and his duet partner, and return all the stolen wealth to the public coffers.

After GE13, continue with the rest and you are home free. Such an easy task Mr PM, only if you are brave enough. But it's doubtful, since you dare not even call for GE13.

Bamboo: Why only raid the office of the servant carrying out the master's orders? It is only proper to raid the office of the master (Taib). This is pre-general election ‘wayang' only.

Orang Jauh: Najib, of course, corruption will "not go away overnight". In fact prostitution and corruption cannot completely go away. But that is not the point. The point is they have gotten worse over the 55 years of the BN hegemony.

Ghkok: But Najib, this is a chief minister who has been in power for 33 years. Surely, if someone was "determined to tackle it", it would have been investigated a long time ago? No?

P Dev Anand Pillai: Why hunt the poor lawyer? He only takes instructions from the client and the head honcho is talking about corruption and prostitution?

Prostitution is because of a human need whereas corruption is because of human greed. Prostitution has been legalised and controlled in certain jurisdictions, but here it is a hypocritic act that we put up with.

Corruption is a way of life which the politicians have taught the people. It has now seeped into their blood, so they will find it very difficult to do away with it. But a good way to start is to go after the kingpins, not the poor underlings.

Wira: Umno and their cohorts in Sarawak have perfected corruption, including legalising them as commissions that it is now impossible to prosecute the culprits.

We can only be awestruck how those 1Malaysia leaders and their families can amass such amazing wealth within such a short period.

Once someone in their family becomes an important minister, their siblings and children instantly become incredibly profitable business persons.

WTF Malaysia: What is the likelihood that all the incriminating documents are in a storage warehouse in Singapore?
