Four names have been shortlisted to occupy the menteri besar's seat if BN takes over Selangor.

learnt that the four - Fateh Iskandar, Fuad Hassan,  and Subahan Kamal - have received the blessings of state and party elders in line with the mission of fielding technocrats to be the face of BN.

“These are the names that are pretty much confirmed but, of course, the announcement must be made by the prime minister (Najib Abdul Razak) himself,” said a party insider.

“These names have cropped up before and there are several others who are seen or speculated as capable but these four have what it takes… based on their rapport with the people, age, working experience and educational background.

“In fact, the (overall) list of candidates is pretty much confirmed."

Fateh, the group managing director and CEO of Glomac Group of Companies, read law in Australia before obtaining his Masters in Business Administration.

NONE Fuad is the director-general of the Department of Special Affairs (Jasa) and is the brother of former inspector-general of police Musa Hassan and actor Jalaluddin Hassan.

Sungai Burung assemblyperson Shamsudin received his Masters degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Syracuse University in New York and was the former Kuala Selangor district officer.

Subahan ( right ) is an accountant by profession and is the Taman Templer assemblyperson.

He is also the Football Association of Malaysia vice-president, the team manager for the national football squad and the Selangor Hockey Association president.

Selangor BN coordinator Mohd Zin Mohammed refused to comment. "So sorry, I can't help you on this matter," he said.

‘BN has bigger task at hand’

Sin Chew Daily had reported on Tuesday that Mohd Zin topped a field of four candidates in a Facebook survey on Selangor menteri besar potentials with more than 7,000 likes.

Fateh came in second in the survey with more than 2,000 likes.

Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Noh Omar and Selangor Islamic Affairs Council (Mais) chairperson Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa received about 1,600 likes.

Subahan downplayed the list obtained by The Malay Mail saying BN has got a bigger issue at hand – to reclaim Selangor.

“Let’s not even discuss this right now. BN Selangor has got a huge task at hand… to win the hearts of the voters and capture Selangor. That is more important than anything else,” he said.

“No doubt people are already talking, just like they did in the past but I believe such talk is not relevant at this juncture. Furthermore, it is for the prime minister to decide at the end of the day.”

Subahan admitted he was quite confident of a "bigger victory" this time around. He obtained 14,600 votes during the 2008 elections, 613 more than Mohamad Abdul Rahman from PAS.

NONE Subahan was met after launching the Community Health Programme in Taman Selayang Baru yesterday. Also present was state MCA chief Donald Lim ( left ).

Some 70 spectacles were handed out to the elderly, school children and the needy.

There was also a free medical check-up booth set up with the help of the Selayang Hospital, Gombak clinic and the National Cancer Institute.

It was also learnt Lim will contest in for the Selayang parliamentary seat, currently held by PKR’s William Leong Jee Keen. Lim has been making his rounds in Selayang quite often.

“I’m the Selangor MCA chief so I have to be everywhere. I’m now in Selayang, later I’ll be at Kajang followed by Shah Alam and Klang. I’m not just at one area alone,”he said.

“Let’s just wait for the announcement by the prime minister.”
