Pakatan Rakyat intends to give state BN chief Teng Chang Yeow a shock in Bukit Tengah on mainland Penang, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said today.

Lim said Teng should not think that it would be an easy battle for him in the area, currently held by PKR.

“Even though it is a PKR seat, we will give him a shock... we will be there in full force,” said Lim during his speech at the launch of the state Pakatan manifesto.

“Just because it is a bukit (hill), does not mean Teng will have it easy,” he added.

Lim was responding to Teng’s candidacy in Bukit Tengah, which Malaysiakini had speculated.

Gerakan president Koh Tsu Koon announced the party’s candidates in Kuala Lumpur today.

Lim had earlier offered to meet Teng in Padang Kota, where he was assemblyperson for three terms.

But the possibility of a fight between them fizzled out when Teng refused to meet Lim in the constituency.

After the launch, Lim was asked to comment on why was Penang not proposing that the term of the chief minister be limited to two terms.

"The problem is legal. Please refer to (DAP national chairperson) Karpal Singh," Lim replied.

Pakatan had proposed that the Johor menteri besar's post be limited to two terms in its state manifesto , which was unveiled yesterday.
