SELANGOR Despite incumbent Pandan MP Ong Tee Keat choosing not to contest in the coming general election as an Independent as widely expected, MCA candidate for the parliamentary seat, Gary Lim is still concerned about the possibility of sabotage by Ong’s faction.
“I am still negotiating with everyone (in MCA) and MCA is still very united.
“But I hope those who haven’t (negotiated), please come back to the BN family,” Lim ( right ) told reporters while meeting with BN polling district members at Pandan yesterday night.
He hoped that MCA members would unite against the opposition coalition and not inflict internal sabotage.
Pressed on whether he was worried about sabotage by Ong, Lim replied: “of cause I am worried.”
Being a two-term MP of the constituency, Ong is considered a strongman there as the locals have praised him for offering good services and was expected to contest as an Independent when dropped from BN’s candidacy list.
Although Selangor BN tried to retain Ong as Pandan candidate, he was dropped allegedly due to the objections of long-time rival, MCA president Chua Soi Lek.
