YOURSAY 'What if BN wins narrowly? Is Muhyiddin Yassin fit for the PM position? And will he also head the Finance Ministry?'
Ghani: If Kit wins, Hadi might be PM
Ferdtan:
Incumbent Johor MB Abdul Ghani Othman said to the Chinese voters in Gelang Patah that if DAP Kit Siang wins, Abdul Hadi Awang from PAS might be PM.
This is the sign of desperation of Umno to spook the Chinese voters using the often spouted MCA line. This contradicting message must be passed to the Malay crowd so that they cannot use the same strategy of frightening the Malays that DAP would be controlling the country.
This is where PAS should capitalise this advantage (that it would still be a Malay to be the PM as admitted by Umno) to woo the Malay voters to vote for DAP and as well PAS/PKR.
The going is not only tough for Lim Kit Siang (to get the Malay votes which are 34 percent) but it is also difficult for Ghani to get votes from the 52 percent Chinese votes.
The Indian votes of 12 percent could be the kingmaker if it tilts steeply to one side. However, if it is only 50 percent for Umno, it's end game for Ghani. Thus the desperation of Umno in using racial tactics to win the race.
Aishah: Umno's strategy - in front of the Chinese, Hadi will be PM who will rule Malaysia like the Taliban. In front of the Malays, Kit Siang will be PM who will marginalise the Malays like what Lee Kuan Yew did to Singapore's Malays.
Bender: What? Chinese are supposed to be scared of Hadi? If it's true that Hadi is to become the PM, the only people who are going to be scared are those in Umno, who have embroiled themselves in ungodly affairs.
Milosevic: And if Ghani wins, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the slayer of the Malaysian way and the usherer of the Islamic state, might be the dalang PM.
The choice is simple: We have had about 30 years of retrogressive, post-Hussein Onn politics, so risking change in favour of even someone like Hadi Awang, who might wish to bully us into some version of Islamo-fascism, is still a good wager.
The people have awakened, they make the government and not the less than admirable political parties and the egos behind them.
A poorly performing opposition in power or excessive Islamic nonsense will be a case of dead on arrival for Pakatan in GE14.
Hold Awam Accountable: There's absolutely no need for Ghani to issue these ridiculous warnings if he feels so confident that he is going to win.
Boiling Mud: DAP leader Lim Kit Siang had contested in many previous elections and won, but he was never a decisive factor in forcing the prime minister to choose an Umno candidate against him.
TehTarik: It is high time that Pakatan makes a statement that Anwar Ibrahim will be the next prime minister should Pakatan win. This should be irrespective of the number of seats PKR is going to bag.
We should remember that a significant number of fence-sitters might fall for the BN trap. I strongly feel that we shouldn't dismiss this fear. It might cost Pakatan the elections.
Mahashitla: Ghani, you have made two blunders in just as many days. First, your "racial polarisation" remarks has backfired on Umno and a Malaysiakini commenter has correctly said that perhaps you didn't know the meaning of those two words.
And now you are trying to mislead the rakyat by saying that should Kit Siang win, Hadi might be PM. You do not even know the source of your information.
DAP has all along reiterated that they will support Anwar as PM should Pakatan win. Perhaps facing Kit is putting too much of pressure on you that you are saying things irrationally.
I think you should immediately apologise to Johoreans, especially Gelang Patah folks.
Clever Voter: What if BN wins narrowly? Is Muhyiddin Yassin fit for the PM position? And will he also head the Finance Ministry?
Will Shahrizat Abdul Jalil return as a senator and be made the minister of agriculture? Imagine Chua Soi Lek being minister of home affairs, and Ibrahim heads the Race Relations Ministry?
Compare this list with PKR and we can leave the electorates to decide.
Bluemountains: Ghani must be able to substantiate what he says otherwise he will sound very hollow and irresponsible.
The newspapers are owned by BN component parties and are designed to frighten the Chinese from voting Pakatan. This type of monkey tricks won't work with the Chinese community anymore.
In what way can Hadi Awang become PM if LKS wins in Gelang Patah, Ghani? You have another 13 days to give a credible answer in order to save your reputation lest you be called a rumour monger.
Quigonbond: Now I know Ghani will lose, as he's using the same old line that a vote for DAP is a vote for PAS. He won't be able to answer why is it that his own party holds a different view that a vote for PAS equals a vote for DAP aka Christian state.
I thought Ghani would have had better ideas. Frankly, I'm quite disappointed if the debate is heading this direction.
Myop101: This is not about Chinese versus Malays. It is about the political elites from BN who overstayed their welcome and trying desperately to play the divide-and-rule game to stay in power.
Learn from poet and national laureate Pak Samad when he said those who stayed too long in power now treat power as though it is theirs. It is time to reject politics that harp on race instead of need.
Vijay47: If Kit Siang wins, Hadi's mother-in-law's second cousin's neighbour's nephew could become prime minister, that would still be fine with me.
Yawn... Umno still playing the same old racial record
