Yawn... Umno still playing same old racial record

YOURSAY 'Ghani could not help it. He is a product of a system that survives on sowing fear and distrust among the people.'

Ghani: If Kit wins, Hadi might be PM

your say Cantabrigian: It is premature to assume that a change in the ruling party, whether at the federal or state level, would result in major changes in how the country works.

For all you know, Pakatan Rakyat may retain 70 percent of what BN has successfully implemented and only change 30 percent of the system by removing undesirable policies such as racial quotas, single-sourced contracts, inefficient civil servants and others.

We have experienced this in Selangor and Penang, and I am confident Pakatan will improve on what BN has laid down before to ensure a smooth and seamless transition between ruling parties.

United Kingdom, United State and Australia changed ruling parties almost every other term but life goes on as usual for them. We are on our way there.

Multi Racial: Incumbent Johor MB Abdul Ghani Othman is trying to frighten the non-Muslim voters about Hadi Awang becoming the PM. Face it, Pakatan leader Anwar Ibrahim is already the agreed choice.

Assuming Anwar cannot, there are still so many choices. Ultimately, the people will trust Pakatan leaders to make a wise choice. Even if Pakatan leaders opted for Hadi, we will respect their decision.

However, regardless of who they appoint as PM, DPM and ministers, if Pakatan screwed up, the people will go to GE14 and shop for a new government.

Maplesyrup: DAP leader Lim Kit Siang has appealed to Ghani for a clean fight for Gelang Patah, and obviously from Ghani's statement here that he wants to win even if he has to pervert the truth and lie through his teeth.

Malaysia practises parliamentary system, and for Hadi Awang or any top PAS leader to be made PM, they must get the support from DAP and PKR as well.

Obviously what Ghani is saying is bullshit. When our leaders deceive us and feed us lies, they are not just showing that they have poor character and have no credibility, they are also insulting the intelligence of the rakyat.

People of Johor, you missed the 308 (March 2008 GE) wave, don't miss it this time. Vote for change.

Johorean: What is wrong with Hadi being the PM? Isn't he a Malaysian like all of us? I will have Hadi as PM any day as long as he is honest and care for all Malaysians. He is a better bet than any candidates from Umno-BN.

Boonpou: Many years ago, SUPP leaders made the same threat that if Chinese Sarawakians don't vote BN (and SUPP), they would see the state taken over by PAS.

Look at what happened now. SUPP is near extinction. Ghani should look at Sarawak and wake up or suffer the same fate like their corrupted SUPP counterpart.

Furthermore, and this is speaking with experience talking with non-Malays in the state of Kelantan, can one explain why the non-Malays overwhelmingly voted for PAS there?

Time and again, they voted for PAS because it is a fair and uncorrupted government. All these religious and race rhetoric are foreign to them. They know who are using these tactics and they are not stupid.

Change We Will: This is all Ghani is capable off, play the Malays against DAP and the Chinese against PAS. This shows that he, as well as Umno-BN, are devoid of ideas.

I am a non-Muslim and I am really puzzled as to what is the concern over PAS? What is so terrifying of PAS to non-Muslims? I think Umno-BN is the one that's terrifying.

Armageddon: Ghani should not be unnecessarily worried on who will be the PM if Pakatan wins. He should be more concern with who the PM will be if BN win.

It looks like Ibrahim Ali is the likely candidate since he has the power to kick out the Umno candidate for Pasir Mas.

Guna Otak Sikit: You can see why BN is in a rut. Elections after elections, they say the same old thing, like an old broken record. To the Chinese, they talked about Islamisation. To the Malays, they talked about Christian state.

Things have changed but their mindset are still stuck in the past. The PM is busy trying to look popular, throwing concerts and dinners with big stars. How about talking about intelligent issues for once?

Like the big plunge in education standard and how to arrest the drop? How about housing for all poor people instead of throwing money around? How about having better security where a woman can walk on the street and not getting her purse snatched off?

How about lowering tolls and cancelling the Automatic Enforcement System (AES)? How about eliminating corruption instead of building more courts? All these issues and all BN can come up with are religion and sex.

Astounded: Ghani Othman has just vindicated what Lim Kit Siang said. Ghani might have brought development to Johor in his 18-year stewardship as MB but he belongs to the old system.

And what Ghani uttered is something that could only come out from the old. He could not help it. He is a product of a system that survives on sowing fear and distrust among the people.

And to think that he dared to accuse Kit Siang of causing racial division among the people in Johor.

Anonymous #04866654: Ghani would probably say LKS is eyeing the PM post himself. There is no end to all this nonsense.

'Hadi more preferable than Muhyiddin as PM'
