YOURSAY 'This means there are two types of ink, one is delible and the other indelible. Delible is for those who are to vote for the second time.'
Ink used on voter's index finger is NOT indelible
Anonymous #44199885:
Well, what does Election Commission chief Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof, or his rather very outspoken deputy Wan Ahmad Wan Omar, have to say about this?
Is this true? If it is proven, does it mean that the election will have to be postponed as the EC has failed to discharge its duties to the rakyat?
The rakyat demands that the EC give a public demonstration and a guarantee that the ink works as promised to the rakyat.
If the statement about the ink being faulty is truly made by a police or military personnel, then I salute him or her for his or her sense of duty to the rakyat.
Maplesyrup: Now we know why the ink is top secret. If they had allowed Pakatan Rakyat to try it out, the rahsia (secret) will bocor (leak out), and they will be forced to use the real stuff?
This is EC-style. In GE12, they refused to adopt indelible ink at the eleventh hour citing sabotage which subsequently proven to be false. Now, in GE13, the EC trumpeted the adoption of the ink.
If EC's track record is anything to go by, we should not be surprised by this turn of event. The first task of a Pakatan government would be to give the EC a good shake-up.
Rayte: It's not surprising because as usual, they have bought normal stamp pad ink at an extremely premium price. The person who arrange for this has become a millionaire. Mr attorney-general, you want to check this one out?
The EC will deny everything and accuse Pakatan for trying to sabotage the election. It will be business as usual.
Frozen: This is upsetting. Malaysians, please pray that this grand-scale cheating will fail on election day.
Jedi_Who: No wonder they didn't want to demonstrate it to electoral reform pressure group Bersih and other NGOs.
SteveK: This means there are two types of ink, one is delible and the other is indelible. Delible is for those who are supposed to vote for the second time. Somehow the plan went haywire.
Anonymous #62015482: Only three people know the colour of the ink. I guess these three people know that the ink is delible too. So, is fair election going to happen now?
Wira: Oh my God, this in incredible. The whole country is ashamed of our government. How can anyone believe the compliance to procurement procedure in government service, which is ISO (International Organization for Standardization) certified?
Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu) CEO Idris Jala, what government transformation programme (GTP) indices you are boasting of when such gross failures can happen?
Najib, if I were you, I would take responsibility and resign in shame.
John 3:16: Don't you EC guys thoroughly test the ink before you purchase the stuff? There are now doubts that the ink is indelible for a week or more and polling day is just five days away. So how now?
What!!!???: EC, you mean you guys didn't even try it on somebody and try to wash the indelible ink of with water, soap or any liquid solvent? This is absolutely ridiculous and unimaginable.
Hmmmmmmmm: This better not be true. What is this country coming to when we can't even get this right.
Anonymous #44199885: Any attempt to cheat the rakyat is unacceptable. Does the EC expect the rakyat to hold further demonstrations? Are they going to bear responsibility for this?
This is shocking news. The police must take action, and take action now, to safeguard the constitutional rights of Malaysians.
If it is true that the ink is delible, the only viable alternative is for the rakyat to petition His Majesty the Yang DiPertuan Agong to defend the people from having their constitutional rights stolen.
Trout Dundee: Never mind about the useless indelible ink which may have be bought at a cost way above what it is actually worth. We are all quite used to this kind of practice in Bolehland.
What is most heartening here is soldiers and other security personnel are coming out to complain to Pakatan. What does this tell us? The BN's support among the armed forces must be fast dwindling, I think.
Moontime: The EC chief should take responsibility and resign due to this fiasco. Who do they think they are trying to fool?
We Malaysians are an educated lot, IT savvy and observant enough to know that you are instructed by BN to make sure the party wins at all costs.
You have no credibility anymore. You cannot just pass the buck to the police to investigate because you of all people know that it is not indelible in the first place.
Better get ready to appear in court after May 5 because once Pakatan is in power at Putrajaya, you will be inevitably charged for this fiasco.
Anonymous_4087: They might as well use ‘inai', a traditional marking normally used in wedding ceremonies. It will only cost less than RM100,000 for all registered voters and is not removable for at least a few days.
Anonymous #33877536: We should all bring our own ink. What say you, EC?
Possibility of 'double voting' real after ink faux pas
