'Keep Khalid as MB, Azmin should back off'

YOURSAY 'All the odds were against him, but Khalid skillfully overcome them. He has shown his enemies how a state should be managed.'

S'gor Pakatan rides the Khalid wave

your say Ferd Tan: I am sure most of us have overcome the overdose of politics in the last few days as well as a mild depression following no change in the federal government. Now it is the time to work even harder.

As to the choosing of the Selangor MB with PAS (15 seats), DAP (15 seats) and PKR (14 seats), PAS may claim the right to the chair of the chief ministership.

However, the sentiment of DAP is obvious that it would support a PKR candidate. There is much fear that the PKR candidate may not be Khalid Ibrahim, who has led the state to a massive win clinching eight additional seats.

We, Selangoreans, want Khalid to continue for another term to continue his work. We have fought so hard for the Pakatan in our own way and we don't want the politicians to quarrel over positions.

On May 5, we were there at a school in Bandar Bukit Tinggi together with many ordinary folks, young and old, men and women, ‘guarding' the gate to ensure no phantom voters turned up. The rain came twice but no one left their positions.

Fear of violence was real as BN got reinforcement from a convoy of cars carrying many Indian thugs who started spewing obscenities at our crowd.

FRU and Rela officials came to control the situation. I have never being prouder of Malaysians of all races who stood their ground without fear of the thugs who are out to cause trouble. In fact one of the Umno thugs came over to our side to start the violence and thanks to the police, he was apprehended.

It was only after 5pm that we dispersed knowing that we have done our job. I am sure such scene is repeated everywhere around the country to prevent massive cheating. The ordinary people have arisen.

To this end, Khalid has proven himself by getting a better result from the last election, and we should retain him as menteri besar for another term.

Aries46: Congratulations to Khalid and his team for their even bigger victory than 2008. We appreciate the confidence generated by the MB that has enabled us to vote with a clear conscience in support of his clean, trustworthy and transparent government.

The mission for Selangor in its second term would be to project a united, efficient and corruption-free government that would influence the voters in other states who opted for BN. Let the Pakatan state government in Selangor be the shining example of a truly 'peoples first' administration.

MfM: We want Khalid back as MB. No two ways about it. Selangor PKR chief Azmin Ali and his camp should just back off. No Umno-style politics here.

Simon: I certainly agree with Nathaniel Tan, author of this article. Khalid has worked in a honest manner - no cronyism, no favours. He has proven that integrity is more important than appeasing the cronies.

Well done, Khalid and I urge Pakatan that if you practice what you preach then Khalid is your choice as MB. Any alternative move and we will see through your lies.

Hermit: It is almost rare for a typical soft-nurtured Malay, when throned as a menteri besar, would not succumb to the hands, whether seen and unseen of his party warlords, kingmakers and real king.

But Khalid has proven to be a rare gem who places his oath for office above everything. It is his no nonsense and managerial skill, which enabled Khalid to harness a dedicated team to administer Selangor successfully as a Pakatan model state alongside Penang.

Unlike Penang, Selangor is enjoining the federal capital where the BN generals were anchored with tall order to tear Selangor into pieces. But Khalid survived against the relentless attack, and luck was with the good man when rainfall kept falling to top up the dams, against the enemies who were determined to dry up the dams.

All the odds were against him, but Khalid skillfully overcome them. Indeed, Khalid has shown to his enemies how a state should be managed.

TimeForChange: PKR, now is not the time to pander to to any individual's political ambitions. The people have spoken through the ballot boxes. Heed their voices if you want their support in future.

If you are a true and loyal partner of Pakatan, appoint Khalid and no one else. No individual has the right to dictate who should be appointed as MB no matter how senior a PKR member he is. Learn a lesson from the results of Umno's nomination of Zulkifli Noordin to stand in Selangor.

Ex-wfw: It is obvious that many people in Selangor have voted for Pakatan with a clear conscience that it has a very capable leader in the form of Khalid. Malaysia needs more of such leaders than those who are good in swaying short-term emotion; worse still with an ulterior agenda of their own.

With Khalid he has given the people so much hope for a better tomorrow, which should be set as example to the rest of the nation. Let Selangoreans' late nights over the past two weeks and donations not be wasted with more experiments, like that of Kedah's.

Anonymous_4020: What gave Pakatan a key edge going into GE13 was its ability to defeat the "Pakatan has no experience running a government" with its showcase performance in Penang and Selangor.

And credit should be given where credit is due - that is, Khalid Ibrahim and Lim Guan Eng. We must show gratitude to Khalid and send a signal that we will be forever grateful to statesmen who despite all odds against them and temptations in front of them, stand firm on our vision.

Ng Choong Leong: Nathaniel Tan, your analysis is very rational and logical. Khalid should continue to implement the state water project till its complete success to benefit all the people of the state of Selangor.

Due emphasis and focus should also be given to promote the Selangor state tourism and its related infrastructure developments to further enhance the state financial position.

Heidegger & Derrida: No offence to Khalid, but this is obviously an unashamedly biased write-up by Tan, calculated to influence the choice of MB. Nemo dat non causa sua - no man should be judge in his own cause.

Here you are as the advisor to the state. You have no business writing this, let alone campaigning for Khalid to be retained.

The issue is not Khalid but if it has to be about the best choice for the post, then let's have an objective discourse as to who would be the best candidate.

Dr Awang Hasmadi Awang Mois: A very good, simple, objective and comprehensive analysis of the whole performance of the Pakatan group in Selangor by Tan. Well done.

Let us all pray that Pakatan in Selangor remains wiser and listen to the demands of the younger generation than the one in Kedah under my former academic colleague, Azizan Abdul Razak.

And let us have Khalid back as our favourite MB rather than the other political creatures like Azmin Ali, close or distant he might be to Anwar.

Though Khalid may not be a good orator he is definitely a much better organiser and administrator. Let us all hope that Pakatan becomes wiser and start working hard to fulfill its promises to their loyal and hopeful voters.

PAS, don't even think of taking MB's post
