The coalition of Independent candidates in Penang is against the Pakatan Rakyat protest following their loss in the 13th general election.

Representative Shamsut Tabrej Ismail GM Marica, who contested as an independent candidate for Seberang Jaya state seat, said today it was wrong to protest because the people had voted for their government.

"If they continue to hold protest, this means that our country is not a democracy as the government can be chosen via protest while Malaysia has laws.

"We hope Pakatan Rakyat does not abuse power and try to topple the government elected by the people.

"This country has a constitution and do not betray the Malay rulers," he told a press conference flanked by A Mohan, the independent candidate for Bukit Tengah state and Batu Kawan parliamentary seats.

Shamsut said the Pakatan Rakyat claim that the Election Commission (EC) was influenced by the BN government was not true at all.

"If the EC was influenced by BN, Anwar Ibrahim would not have won Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat and Pakatan Rakyat would not have won three states," he added.
