Transformation cabinet looks more like a recycled cabinet

YOURSAY 'I was expecting a steel cabinet from PM Najib but what we get is a wooden one instead. Watch out for the termites.'

New cabinet: Waytha, Khairy, Paul Low in; MCA out

your say LittleGiant: There is nothing to crow about the new cabinet. Many old faces and a few new ones. Some of the new ministers are young and we have to wait and see if they have the calibre to perform.

As for Paul Low of Transparency International-Malaysia (TI-M) and P Waythamoorthy of Hindraf, these two have to ask themselves if their conscience is clear for them to accept the cabinet positions offered to them.

Before accepting his ministerial post, can Paul Low truthfully say if all the BN leaders upheld the election integrity pledge that they had signed with TI-M before GE13?

And Waythamoorthy, before accepting his deputy minister's post, should promise to the Indian community that his so-called blueprint to solve the community's woes will be fully implemented by the BN within the time frame set out in the blueprint.

If Waytha fails to deliver on his promise, he should apologise, not only to the Indian community but to all Malaysians and just "get lost" forever. No excuses.

Pemerhati: One would have thought that people who hold high office in TI-M also subscribe to the high ethical standards of that organisation and would speak out against all forms of corrupt practices.

So it is indeed surprising to see that the president of TI-M, Paul Low, has joined BN's cabinet.

Low must be aware that BN is extremely corrupt and is an illegitimate and illegal government because it obtained the seats through massive fraud and 53 percent of Malaysians voted against it.

It looks like he is no different from his predecessor in TI-M, Tunku Abdul Aziz, who for some reason became BN-friendly after quitting DAP.

Multi Racial: Frankly as a Malaysian, I do not have any problem even if the BN cabinet is 100 percent of one race as long as they are Malaysians and capable. The former is not so much of a problem but I have doubt in the latter.

Faz: This transformation cabinet is more like recycled cabinet. I was expecting a steel cabinet but what we get is a wooden one instead. Watch out for the termites.

Magnus: Like I said earlier, no one won this election. Malaysia and the vast majority of people have lost yet again because of a broken system.

I have not said this before out of respect for actions undertaken by Hindraf, but I must say now that I am most most disappointed and taken aback by Waythamoorthy's remarkable volte-face.

So the black days are set to continue. This is what normally happens when the people trust their government too much and so allow them the free rein to rig the system for their and their cronies' benefits, as is seen today.

Maplesyrup: Why do we need a temporary transport minister? Considering there are 10 ministers in the PM's Department, this is grossly unnecessary.

Considering Hishammuddin Hussein less than lustre performance as home minister, one wonders how he can cope with two important portfolios.

Gunner: The way the Lahad Datu incident was handled by Hishammuddin, which was a complete failure, he should not be the cabinet line-up this time.

I have high hopes for Paul Low. He must fight for good governance, transparency and a corruption-free system. People at large will support the government if it is seen to practice these principles.

Look at Selangor. The majority of voters support Pakatan Rakyat because the way it manages the state.

Onyourtoes: Paul Low was formerly an MCA member. He resigned in favour of Transparency International.

I guess now he has to resign in favour of becoming a cabinet minister. So much of Chinese representation in the government, not that I care much.

Cantabrigian: Is it just me or this cabinet looks dull and weak? Honestly Najib, is this a transformation cabinet for Malaysia, or just a touch-and-go line-up, which is enough to keep you as the president during the next Umno general assembly?

Many of your generals got wiped out by the 'Chinese tsunami' and leaving you with unknown, unproven and untested faces. Look out for the ‘Malay tsunami' at the Umno election, Najib.

Mangodurian: The practice of having the PM hold the finance minister post was started in 1997 by Dr Mahathir Mohamad after the financial crisis. That was a long time ago - how come this practice is still being kept today? Are we still in economic crises mode?

Anonymous #44199885: Can the PM please describe the qualities that will be brought to the table by each of the selected individuals in the cabinet and help push his vision of transformation of the government, governance, politics, education and economy?

Why are there no technocrats for education, science and innovation and finance?

Would not highly qualified people with the specialisation and experience from industry serve the country better?

EugeneT: Transformation cabinet indeed! Besides the usual suspects of political dinosaurs, the only new creature there is a Judas who sold out his community for a backdoor entry into a tainted government.

MockingYou: And what a switch between the defence and home ministers, and headed by the same idiots who screwed up big time in the Lahad Datu fiasco.
