The Federation of Muslim Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) has urged the government to set up a royal commission to probe the activities of a group who called themselves the ‘Red Bean Army’.

Chief activist of the Muslim Consumers Association Malaysia (PPIM), Nadzim Johan, said the government has to probe activities of the pro-opposition cyber troopers who spread lies to undermine the peace and unity of this country.

He said the government should probe and determine who is the mastermind of the ‘Red Bean Army’ and take stern action if they are found to be involved in spreading lies.

“The existence of this group of individuals is very disturbing because they can influence the people’s thinking, especially the youths, via social networking sites.

“This group plays on racial issues and we fear that they will undermine the solidarity and destroy the existing institutions,” he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

Nadzim said they will send a memorandum to the Home Affairs Ministry on the matter as soon as possible.

Former executive secretary of DAP Youth Shen Yee Aun had allegedly revealed that the ‘Red Bean Army’ are professionals who manipulate facts not only to attack the government, but also ordinary people who support Barisan Nasional (BN).
