Penang Umno has claimed that the governor’s address to the new session of the state legislative assembly today was reminiscent of Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s speeches.

"It's not an issue, but the moment Lim opens his eyes, he wants to blame others," he told a press conference at the state legislative assembly building today.

In his speech, Governor Abdul Rahman Abbas had said that he wants to put on record the state government's "massive win" in the May 5 polls and to congratulate the administration.

Pakatan Rakyat had been returned to power with an additional state seat and 68 percent of the popular vote.

Abdul Rahman then said the AES is “most appropriate”.

The state government had introduced the AES in the 2013 budget as the main philosophy in strategies to reduce inequality, stimulate economic development, provide jobs, generate income and ensure socio-economic justice.

However, Farid begged to differ, saying: “We will prove that the AES is not just or equal at all, it is actually unequal and narrow. Many initiatives are (being) carried out in urban areas. What about rural areas?"
