The magistrate’s court in Kuala Lumpur today set Aug 2 for mention of a case involving three policemen accused of murdering a detainee in police custody last May 21.

Magistrate Nur A’minahtul Mardiah Md Nor set the date to enable the prosecution to obtain the post mortem report.

On June 5 this year, Sergeant Jaffri Jaafar, 44, and corporals Mohd Nahar Abd Rahman, 45, and Mohd Haswadi Zamri Shaari, 32, and another person at large are accused of having murdered N Dharmenderan, 32, at the Special Branch investigation office, D9, on the 7th floor of the Kuala Lumpur Police headquarters in Jalan Hang Tuah in Kuala Lumpur.

Earlier, deputy public prosecutor S Nithia informed the court that the prosecution had obtained the chemist’s and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) reports.

“The chemist’s report was handed over to the pathologist on July 3 and the prosecution require a month to get the post mortem report,” he added.

However, lawyers Hazman Ahmad, Baljit Singh and Ariff Azami Hussein, representing Jaffri, Mohd Nahar and Mohd Haswadi, respectively, requested the case to be expedited because it involved civil servants.
