your say Vijay47: Former inspector-general of police (IGP) Musa Hassan, are we supposed to stand up and cheer when you come out with revelations like the link between the attempt on MyWatch chairperson R Sri Sanjeevan's life and organised crime working in cahoots with the police?

From your apparent outrage over this unholy alliance, one must assume that this is a recent development - something that did not exist during your watch as IGP.

But various sources had come out with damning allegations of your personal ties with criminals and you did not sue any one of these whistleblowers, leading us to the natural conclusion that those stories about you were true.

Perhaps to be fair to yourself, you can enlighten us on your achievements in reducing crime or at least enforcing it fairly, rather than being a shameless Umno flunky like the present attorney-general.

Now that you are retired, after a tenure that could hardly be described as impressive or credible, you have the audacity to take on the role of patron of MyWatch. Talk about getting the fox to guard the chicken coop!

Odin: Crimes rate would never decrease when the police are apparently in cahoots with crime syndicates and abet in illegal activities.

And in this Sanjeevan's case, they aren't likely to work very hard at identifying the would-be assassins, never mind arresting and charging them, for obvious reason.

By the way, who was the IGP during the 'Tengku Goh' scandal ?

Tan Teng Wah: If what the ex-IGP said is true, then, sadly, the police force is transforming into what Hong Kong citizens called "the licensed thugs".

Anonymous_4056: This is the kind of Malaysia we are living today - a breakdown in law and order.

It came about when the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) is supposed to be a crime-fighting branch of government, but Umno hijacked it to protect the thugs and hooligans and its leaders.

That's why Umno can do anything with impunity. Even high-profile corruption. The police themselves and the criminals syndicates knew about all these and took advantage of the situation.

Bolehland is fast going down the drain. The IPCMC (Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission) will not become a reality simply because Umno will not allow it.

Anonymous_3e86: The problem in Malaysia is that our police don't take death threats seriously, unless the PM himself is threatened.

They don't take action against those who issue such threats. The recent threats against Guneswari Kelly (the school toilet canteen episode) must not be taken lightly.

Those who have threatened Guneswari must be arrested and charged. Failure to take action could have dire consequences, such as that experienced by Sanjeevan.

Pemerhati: When Musa was the IGP, several senior police offers alleged in their sworn affidavits that he had links with the underworld but no action was taken against him.

Prior to that, the BBC too in a special report alleged that an underworld leader had told them that his organisation had a cosy relationship with the police.

This cosy relationship between the police and the criminals, whereby the police get a share of the profits of the underworld from its various activities such as drugs, prostitution, gambling, loan sharking, etc, is a win-win situation both for the police and the underworld and has been going on for a very long time.

The sad reality is that the country has a prime minister and a very corrupt police force with a symbiotic relationship between them. As long BN remains in power, things are likely to get from bad to worse.

Onyourtoes: If the former IGP claims that present high-ranking police officers have underworld connections, this is serious and untenable.

How do we expect organised crimes committed by the kingpins to get resolved by our police?

Anonymous_40f4: Another ‘wayang' (show)? The country has become lawless. The police, who are paid with millions of ringgit from taxpayers, are not seen doing their job.

There is total failure of the various law enforcement agencies in this country, corrupted possibly by interference from politicians. No one is safe anymore.

You can easily hire hitmen to commit murders which are happening at least one a month. Murderers roam free. Ask PM Najib Razak.

Cantabrigian: Khalid Abu Bakar, please resign from your IGP post. The normal excuse of "Kami akan melakukan siasatan rapi dan mendalam" is so lame that even I would dare put RM100 as a bet to show that nothing will happen.

OMG!!: Can the public trust his words? Where are the home minister and the prime minister? Both have their heads in the sand?

HC: Sanjeevan, our thoughts are with you and your family. Your fearlessness in pursuing criminal elements in the police force have started to have an impact on the the real criminals.
