The Education Ministry said media reports which stated three pupils of SK Seri Pristana in Sungai Buloh have been transferred for fear of being harassed were not true.

In a statement today, the ministry said its investigation found only one student had applied for a transfer from the school.

It also said the transfer of pupil from a school was actually the decision of the respective parents.

Nonetheless, the ministry gave its assurance to continue investigating and to take action if the allegations that teachers and the school administration attempted to harass pupils of various races were true.

Yesterday, an English daily reported that the parents of three students had sought a transfer from the school for fear that their children woud be harassed.

On complaints that the school administration allowed police to conduct investigation on pupils in the school, the ministry clarified that the school merely cooperated upon request.

“It was the right of police to investigate matters reported to them and the school needed to cooperate with the police when requested,” said the statement.
