Senior: Non-Catholics, including some Christians, don't read The Herald, what more Muslims. So what public order or security is attorney-general (AG) Abdul Gani Patail talking about? Or is it just the Home Ministry flexing its muscles without thinking?

Fernz The AG's take on the Court of Appeal ruling on The Herald does not hold water. Where's the principle in law that tells us that the government and/or the court can tell anyone what they can call or cannot call their God?
Where's the principle in law that tells us that they can engage in theological debate? What one calls one's God is an essential practice in any religion.
National security cannot be achieved at the expense of a sizeable segment of society, which is the Sabah and Sarawak Christians. If Christians using Allah is a threat to national security, the same argument can be levelled at anyone else using the term, the Muslims and Sikhs, for example.
Politics must be kept out of religion and the courts, and there should be no politicisation of the court and religion.
Anonymouse496997: If it is such a security threat, why not ban Muslims from reading Christian materials instead, since the number who are easily confused is small, otherwise in the past 200 years millions would have been confused already. So now, if some Muslims suddenly say they will be confused if they see a place of worship other than a mosque, are we going to ban all other places of worship as well?
Mat Salleh Now it's national security and public order. What an idiotic AG. Don't we have enough laws to counter such events? And what about Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali and former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad? Are they not a threat to national security?

SA Tombs I fully agree that words like 'Zahid Hamidi' and 'Gani Patail' should all be banned as they disrupt the co-existence of the people of this country.

Fair Play: Perhaps, according to the writer of this article, the demise of Umno will come from within - the inability to attract new, younger talent to join the party by virtue of its 'old boys' network style of politics.
And the Pakatan Rakyat component parties will merely have to tap it over the edge to complete the process.

Anonymous #40538199: Pakatan has to work harder. Once Umno is perceived to be rid of the old devil's influence, it is possible that sizable votes of the Malays and non-Malays may swing back to BN.
Moreover, comparing GE12 and GE13, the result showed that the devil is more effective in undermining BN from within.
Faz: The symptoms are many and counting. The writing has been on the wall for ages. These indications will really 'transform' Umno Baru, morphing it into a lame party without the political will to move forward physically, albeit with much noise in the process of moving.
The decay is not going to be stopped by the currently chosen leaders who are the remnants of the Mahathir years. Resorting to dictatorial tendencies and profusely using the racial and religious cards are not going to endear them to most Malaysians.
But Umno Baru members seem to endorse this in the form of Home Minister Zahid Hamidi. This is the pied piper to the ultimate demise for Umno, since Umno Baru members and other BN party members will not be able win elections alone without supporters and sympathisers.

But it is good news that Mukhriz Mahathir's ascent of Umno's hierarchy has been checked for now. Good to know that the ex-dictator is no longer all-powerful.
Anonymous_5fb: Well, Mahathir is the real reason for Mukhriz' defeat. Umno members are clearly aware that for Umno to change (I rather don't want to use the word reform here), they must get rid of Mahathir's remnants and influence. But this is still not good enough for Umno to gain back support from the rakyat, especially the Chinese.
Toffeesturn: Mahathir and Mukhriz are being dumped into the dustbins of history, Malaysian history. Is Mahathir going to say he is resigning from Umno tomorrow?
Or is he going to go on a rampage again this time to get Najib out? Sources say that is the road he is planning to take. To get Najib out, he intends to get the MACC to investigate Ahmad Zahid - that is the first person he wants out, and then he'll go for Najib's head.
In the aftermath he'll ask current Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin who would then be acting PM, to appoint his son as acting VP. That would pave the way. In an open battle between Mukhriz, Hishammuddin and Shafie Apdal, Mukhriz would win - with a little help of course - to become deputy and to take Muhyiddin out.
Mukhriz is defeated and Mahathir is burnt, sources say he cried after the meeting.
Banzai: I wonder where have all the capable young Umno leaders gone? Don't they have the guts to challenge these old and useless leaders?
