Will PAS ever learn from Kedah fiasco?

VOXPOP 'Kedah PAS became very arrogant after winning the state in 2008. Being arrogant and efficient is okay, but being arrogant and stupid leads to downfall'

Infighting - the cancer that killed Kedah PAS in GE13

voxpop, vox The Observer: The Kedah PAS government fell because it neglected the people. They started implementing policies that showed it didn't care about the views of the others. Because of that it was shown the door. Don't let the good showing in Selangor, Terengganu and Penang be undone by extremist elements and you will be on your way to Putrajaya with your Pakatan allies.

Dex: Kedah PAS became very arrogant after winning the state in 2008. Being arrogant and efficient is okay, but being arrogant and stupid leads to downfall.

Cascara: Bickering was perhaps a reason albeit a minor one. Development of the state was almost at a standstill during the PAS years. If Penang and Selangor could do it why couldn't Kedah? Perhaps their focus was elsewhere and not on governing the state.

Ontoi: PAS Kedah also failed to cooperate or hear the feedback from DAP. That resulted in PAS Kedah being bungkus .

I Wonder?: PAS Pusat leaders unwisely allowed incapable and inefficient people to manage the Kedah government, thus wrong men were put on the position just like leaving toddlers by themselves to wander inside a glass house.

PAS Pusat leaders totally lacked wisdom to timely intervene and take over Kedah when the PAS Kedah top two were going after each other's throats due to greed for power and position. Again, PAS Pusat leaders failed to listen and to take positive action to the numerous strong protests appealing from the local grassroots and supporters not to let the two clowns stand again in GE13, which eventually as expected caused Pakatan to lose miserably the hard won Kedah back to BN.

PAS Pusat leaders failed in performing their duty as everyone seemed to want to be seen as the good guy, and none dared take up responsibility to execute justly with sincerity and without fear or favour.

Failure to learn the mistakes of PAS Terengganu in 2004 and the stubbornness in not listening to voices of the supporters and the people cost not only a great loss and big setback to Pakatan, but shattered the dreams of the Malaysian people dying for a change.

To the supporters, all these are the "cancers". Even cats learn never to repeat mistakes after being punished. Will PAS ever really learn and prepare to change "ini kali"? I hope and pray, but doubt so.

Shah54: I hope PAS will do its post-mortem and work towards how to take back the state administration in the next general election. They should start the groundwork now itself and not wait for the next general election to arrive.

Samurai: PAS thinks it needs to harp on hudud to win Malay support, when it is an Umno game and they should know it. Umno runs rounds around Pakatan over hudud.

Instead, PAS should focus on good governance and fairness, and keep religion as their own fundamentals rather than forcing in on the rakyat, Muslim or not.

Concern about crime is not an excuse for pushing laws that are clearly not in sync with the modern multicultural world. Look at Singapore, they have only the same Common law as us, and no hudud, but they are one of the safest places in the world. The key is a clean, efficient police force.

Whether our laws are Islamic or not, it is just branding for PAS. They should get real that they have to be a party, if not government, for all races and religions if they want to be in Putrajaya; Kedah folk didn't buy their sanctimony.

No Eye To See: PAS is always talking about race and religion. It is a long long way for Malaysia to achieve political awareness. Maybe another 1,000 years. Meanwhile, BN will continue to milk whatever they can, until one day, Malaysia will be left with Bangladesh, Myanmar or North Korea to compete with.

Even then, Malaysia will still be talking about religion and race. This is a sad reality about this country.

Indian doctors, lawyers on the decline, say NGOs

Lim Chong Leong: It is not about how many doctors and lawyers but about how many are poor and living under the poverty line. We need to help those under that line regardless of race or religion and it is a grave concern that many Indians are in that group who need help.

Just because there are many Indian doctors and lawyers, does not mean that we are to ignore these poor Indians. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim is again showing his lack of compassion or even simple understanding of the matter. I always said that a seedless tembikai (watermelon) is worth more than a gutless nambikei. PM, where are you?

The Observer: In the UK, the British prime minister works his guts out answering questions in Parliament. In the US, the American president does the same in Congress. In Malaysia, the shadow of the PM cannot be seen. We have to contend with the likes of this Shahidan Kassim and other ministers in the PM's Department doing the work for him.

TheSilentMajority: I think we have our great leaders in the BN coalition purportedly representing the Indians to thank for this great achievement. Over the years the 'ruling' coalition's Indian components has misled, misappropriated and sold the rights of the Indian communities that trusted them.

They in contrast seem to be enjoying good returns from the bounty of these misdeeds. A big round of kicks in the ass for every Indian who had voted for them and kept them in power. Your children and grandchildren will reap what you sowed.

Cocomomo: Indians who have done well should be proud of what they have achieved because they have succeeded without government support. In that sense Indians have done better than any other group in the country.

Parents who have struggled to ensure their children were educated despite the hardship they had to undergo and received very limited government aid, if any at all, are the real heroes. The only Indians who have succeeded due to government support were corrupt politicians and certain corrupt businessmen.

Indians should not rely on the support of the government and rely on themselves

Anonymous #25558299: Parliamentarians know that the minority group ‑ the Indians are the ones who get the least aid from the government. And still some stupid sycophants in Parliament talk rots to gain support from their Umno masters.

This Shahidan fellow has very little knowledge on Malaysia and how the government is run and where the country is heading presently, and yet was made a minister in the PM's Department. How disgusting.

Paul Warren : Yes, they stop Indians from becoming doctors, lawyers and engineers, so now more and more smart Indians are becoming gangsters.

Onyourtoes: Shahidan's observation is a complete repudiation of what Hindraf is fighting for. Effectively Shahidan was asking - where is the marginalisation of Indians?

Dzulkefly Ahmad: When will Shahidan say the Chinese don't need help from the government because they are very successful now?

Kadaram: Shahidan has his brain in the knee. Malaysians are fated to bear with this until the next general election..
