Islamic groups see red over highway toll hikes

your say, YoursayHaveagreatday: It is good that these two Islamic groups - Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (Abim) and Gerakan Mahasiswa Se-Islam Malaysia (Gamis) - coming to the forefront to protest the proposed highway toll hikes.

More civil society groups must challenged this unethical move by the government to profit their highway toll cronies to the detriment of the rakyat.

Anonymous #40538199: Just look at the situation of Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong from Puchong to Sunway toll.

Every morning during rush hour for office or school, the highway is filled with slow crawling vehicles and the congestion is getting worse by the day as the numbers of vehicles increase.

Now the BN government allows these highway operators to hike their rates without improving the situation while you have to sacrifice sleeping hours for more congestion hours at the highway.

What kind of government allows its citizen to be rob in this way?

OurVotesDecide!: So Malaysians, why are we so stupid to vote Umno and the BN and so easily trusting them and believing their promises during the election? Now we complained.

But during the election, PM Najib Razak comes around throwing our own tax money from the Treasury at our faces then so shamelessly, we give our votes to Umno and BN. When we voted rubbish in, surely we will get rubbish out.

So stop voting for Umno and BN in future election no matters what TV1, TV2, TV3 and Utusan Malaysia say and no matter what Najib promises us.

Odin: No one in his right mind would accept seven instances of ceiling collapse in three - three! - years.

And it simply boggles the imagination that a project worth RM46 million could not have been completed despite the fact that the company awarded the job had been paid RM42.2 million upfront, and the excuse given for the failure is that the company lacked equipment and financial standing.

Probably only idiots would be unable to see the sheer illogicality of this whole exercise. Why haven't the fools bought the equipment needed with the money paid in advance?

And how could there be no money to execute the project when not less than 91.74% of the cost had been paid in advance? Shall we assume that the advance payment went into the pockets of some Umno politicians?

Ranhill is clearly totally unfit to do a proper job other than building chicken coops.

Chipmunk: Ranhill's projects are all shoddy work. Look at the Senai/Desaru highway. Even before this highway was opened to the public, potholes appeared in many areas.

Secondly because of financial problems, Ranhill did not complete the proposed highway. If you were to drive along this road, you will realise that after the last toll, the road leading to Desaru is no more a highway.

It is a trunk road until the main bridge and back to trunk road after the bridge. This is considered short-changed and we still have to pay toll fee of RM11.70. Did the Umno government do anything about this? No.

Ferdtan: Imagine we want to build nuclear plants for energy supplies? Former energy minister Peter Chin previously said that Malaysia is looking to build two 1,000 megawatts nuclear plants by 2022.

He added that the cabinet had approved in principle the construction of the country's first ever nuclear power plant by 2021. Can we trust our BN government with our lives with this risky plant?

We might as well jump down from the highest tower - as it is more merciful - than to suffer the painful consequences if expose to the ionising radiation.

Knowing the building standards of our government and its poor record of maintenance of any building - "what will happen will happen."

Mushiro: Most BN projects including schools, hospitals, army quarters, government office buildings are over priced, delayed and substandard. The obvious reason is corruption.

Abasir: If the ceiling collapses on some Umno leaders with fatal consequences, especially on any of those arrogant fools with ministerial status, investigations will commence and the culprits will be nabbed.

Since nothing of that sort has happened, it will be business as usual with cronies and incompetents like Ranhill feeding from the Umno swill.
