Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has accused middlemen who support the opposition as the perpetrators behind the series of price hikes.
 
"Most of the middlemen support the opposition, this is the problem we are facing.
 
"I have personally asked the reason for their hikes and the answers given are not reasonable.
 
"This is the problem with them, they are only good at tarnishing the government," he was quoted as saying in a Berita Harian report today.
 
Tengku Adnan, also known as Ku Nan, said the price hikes are then exploited by the opposition to gain support from the public.
 
"This is not fair, why do they want to do this? They create stories that if BN wins then harga naik (prices go up) when we actually fight for the rakyat," he added.
