Khai Loon right in standing his ground

YOURSAY ‘Appeasing bullies in the hope of escaping from being bullied is bad policy.’

Flash mob organiser won't apologise

Kim Quek: Appeasing bullies in the hope of escaping from being bullied is bad policy, for you will end up being trampled.

It is these violent mobs that must be legally punished and apologise, not Machang Bubuk state representative Lee Khai Loon who, as an elected leader, had only acted to express the grievances of the people he represents in a fashion he considered most effective, and without breaching any law.

In any case, Umno has long forfeited the right to demand for any apology, for its members have acted in ways many times more offensive and even criminal, with complete impunity - not once, but many times.

Apa Nama: Well done Lee. Why should you apologise? You did not do any wrong. We are also as angry as you are over the price hikes.

We have to send a message to Putrajaya that we do not condone such mismanagement. We, the rakyat, must stand clear that enough is enough as far as price hikes are concerned.

That stupid Persatuan Kangkung SatuMalaysia (Perkasa) will twist and spin, but we must continue to pressure Putrajaya to bring down the prices of controlled items.

We are talking about price hikes, price hikes and price hikes. Nothing else.

My4HOPE: DAP leader Lim Kit Siang (LKS) is wrong to ask Lee to apologise. Period.

Legit: People of all walks of life, race and creed have condemned the actions of the Umno gangsters. People cannot allow themselves to be cowed by these thugs.

Lee Khai Loon is right in standing his ground. In many democracies, the leaders are mocked and often made fun of.

Lee was trying to make a statement when mocking the PM. Nothing wrong with that in a democracy.

It is quite unlike of LKS to suggest that Lee apologises to the PM. May be LKS is getting too old and too tired of fighting.

Proarte: It is clear that DAP is with PKR in spirit but is strategically trying to dissociate itself from the PKR event for which the DAP leaders, namely Lim Guan Eng and Kit Siang, have been blamed for.

Perkasa is mischievously linking the ‘kangkung’ flash mob to a racist, DAP-inspired programme to 'humiliate and insult the Malays' and are threatening a re-run of May 13.

By de-linking itself with this specific event and suggesting an apology, Kit Siang is portraying himself as a 'peacemaker' and showing the Malays that it has never been DAP's intention to 'humiliate or insult' the Malays.

In fact, it is PKR (a mainly Malay-based party), which is responsible for the flash mob.

Ratbatblue: Saying the ‘kangkung’ flash mob could start another May 13 is really provoking the minorities and also intimidating them.

Since the May 13, for the sake of peace and harmony, the minorities always took punches in the chin and never stood their ground for fear of being overwhelmed.

This has led some quarters to capitalise on this perceived meekness and to exploit it to their advantage. If one is convinced one is not wrong, then one should stand up for one’s rights, irrespective of threats and bullying.

YUNoAnon: Bravo, Lee. After all the racist, seditious, insensitive remarks and acts Perkasa has made and has not apologised even once for, there is no reason for you to apologise.

Furthermore, they are the ones who are spinning this into a racial event. Moronic imbeciles doing hateful things while being paid with my tax money.

MinahBulat: Apologise to who? Najib? The flash mob stuffed 10kg of kangkung into Najib's mouth to symbolically feed him. After all, Najib said that he also loves kangkung.

Now it would be insulting if a butt dance is done by the flash mob and the kangkung is shoved up their posterior.

Antoine Ross Deliones: The way the protest was carried out (stuffing water spinach into the hole on the cardboard) may be regarded as childish but it is definitely not as dangerous than the other one that threatened to create a bloody racial riot.

It is always a good idea not to ridicule anyone publicly even if he is really in the wrong.

A nonymous #28709072: Lee, I salute you. Do not apologise when you did no wrong. You represent the rakyat and that is what we want you to voice out.

Anonymous_4056: In a democracy, anyone can demonstrate but do it in a peaceful manner.  Umno too has demonstrated on many occasions. I have no problem with that, but please don't beat up passers-by or let the rally turn violent.

Even threatening peace with a picture of parangs and all is simply too much. The PM is a public figure so he must be game to face criticism.

MockingYou: Good, let the morons look for another excuse to trigger violence to bring in martial law, which is basically a smokescreen to cover their nefarious activities.

2 Tim 1:7: Lee Khai Loon will always be remembered as the man who was able to out-stare the rabid pack of Melayu celup hooligans.
