YOURSAY Persatuan Hindraf head gave it a chance, and now shows integrity by walking off.

Kula: We knew Waytha was on to nothing

Anonymous_4031: Congratulations, Persatuan Hindraf Malaysia (PHM) chair P Waythamoorthy. That is the way to go. When a leader does not follow the agreement, duly signed, then you just walk away.

A lesser being would have clung onto the job, even if he is treated shabbily. But, you are different. I salute you for your courage, for doing the right thing.

You threw away the glory and perks of a deputy minister. You did as Zaid Ibrahim did when he was de facto law minister; he chucked the job and its perks.

The JB MP, Shahrir Samad, also chucked his job as a federal minister. What was more, he even chucked his position as MP, and fought under his own steam and won. Hurrah to him, Zaid, and now Waythamoorthy. All three are great.

You are indeed great gentlemen; you are prepared to make sacrifices because you value principles and honour more than lucre, glory, and perks.

You are not like the ‘traitors’ who jump from one ship to another for some silver coins. More integrity, please.

Awakened: DAP national vice-chairperson M Kulasegaran is spot on to state that “PHM’s approach was flawed from the start”.

PHM's strategy of taking the Indian issue as a separate issue, instead of treating it as an integral part of problems faced by all the marginalised Malaysians, will not get support from the majority.

Its assumption that only Indians are marginalised does not go down well with majority of the politicians. When Najib faced uncertainty during the last general election, he was definitely set to "sign" a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with whoever who could promise him votes.

Waytha and his gang were naïve to think that the Indians were kingmakers in the last election and made sky-high demands to Pakatan Rakyat. In the process, he betrayed the Indians who supported him.

Ferdtan: For you, Waythamoorthy, to resign from your position as deputy minister is one thing, easier done as you had been ignored and humiliated by the Umno ministers in the cabinet, including the public.

The next pertinent question we need to ask you is, “What’s next?” Retire and keep mum despite all the lies that you had been fed with by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and Umno? You played an active part in campaigning for Umno in the last general election.

To remain silent is not an option. You owe it to a lot of people and supporters who have been let down by your ‘betrayal’. You have caused irreparable damage to Persatuan Hindraf Malaysia that you lead. It is not an understatement that you single-handedly killed its influence and power.

In truth, because of you, PHM is now practically dead – with no influence, politically or otherwise. After your defection to BN, PHM became a joke.

Do you feel angry enough? If so, come out during the Kajang by-election to expose the lies of the Umno government to the Indians - if you dare and are sincere enough.

Before doing that, you have to apologise to the Malaysians, especially the Indians who have been your vociferous supporters. Repent and atone for your sin or your stupidity of believing in Umno (when it was so obvious to all that your joining BN was a sell-out).

MR KALAI: He will now stand as a candidate in Kajang to dilute Anwar's votes. This is Najib's plan.

Onyourtoes: Don't be too sure, I will not be surprised if tonight our PM gives Waytha a call to throw him some leftovers, and tomorrow N Ganesan, the great PHM adviser, will announce that everything is back to normal and the mandore is back in circulation again.

Muni: Kula, why didn't Pakatan consider a few seats for Hindraf in the last GE?

M.A.: Hi Muni, didn't you know PHM was then gung-ho and busy licking Umno’s hand, thinking of getting some crumbs thrown to it?

Pakatan was ever-willing to work with it, but the pure arrogance of PHM was too overwhelming. PHM should just dismantle and join Pakatan and stop thinking of race-based policies.

Every displaced Malaysian should be helped without looking at colour, creed or race.

Legit: It was so obvious and clear that when the election was over, so would the excitement of PM Najib. It was foolish from the start for Waytha and his PHM faction to believe the PM would honour the so-called MoU.

One thing: credit must be given to Najib for being able to convince these guys, in spite of his reputation for not honouring promises.

Single Malt: Why did the prime minister simply ignore the document after the general election? Simple, because he just wanted to win votes at any cost.

As we all can see, whatever he proclaimed prior to the election was simply like an empty drum making the loudest noise. As time goes, we'll see many more unfulfilled promises of the BN.

Let’s make the Kajang by-election a referendum/KPI for Najib's leadership and credibility.

Mushiro: Najib knew that PHM did not bring in the Indian votes, but yet offered Waytha a deputy minister's post because of the MoU.

That was all that Najib was willing to do for PHM - offer a dummy deputy minister's post. Najib wanted to fool the Indians. PHM was just plain desperate, naive and silly to sign the MoU.

Hermit: Hey Waytha, with less than 24 hours left before your resignation taking effect, is there anything coming through your handphone from Najib or Rosmah?

If there is nothing, it is as good as switching off the phone. There is only one thing left for Waytha to regain the last iota of dignity left in him.

He must redeem himself by fasting at Batu Caves for betraying the majority of Malaysians, who were holding their breath for the turning tide to wash into Putrajaya.

Hundreds of thousands of very senior citizens like me had pawned GE13 as our last chance to vote for Pakatan to reign in Putrajaya.

But Waytha, for his greediness to become a minister, had probably shattered our last dream of seeing it happen.

Waytha's redemption in the form of fasting at Batu Caves must continue till the very last Indian poor comes and bathes him in coconut milk. Only then   may Waytha be accepted back into our fold.

Waytha's resignation anticipated, says PSM

Anonymous #25558299:  Persatuan Hindraf Malaysia has become irrelevant, like the MIC, Gerakan and MCA. People don't support it anymore and it will be worse for the 14th general election.

If they really want to work for the well-being and safety of the rakyat, it is only wise for these irrelevant parties to join Pakatan to help win over the government from the Umno goons and govern the country with good, educated and uncorrupt leaders from Pakatan.

There is nothing to lose as Umno is instigating racial problems in the country and this has to be stopped.

Anonymous_3e68: PSM is the only ideologically-driven party in the country. Its impact will manifest in time. That time will arrive sooner than expected.

Shanandoah: Unknowingly, the Indians have been sold by their own leaders. Just look at the splinter groups led by Indians for their selfish ends PHM chairperson P Waythamoorthy was bribed with a cabinet post. He succumbed.

At least he realised his folly. Can MIC leaders do that? That will be the day when the Indians will be uplifted.

Jean pierre: "We believe in a class-based approach. You need to identify who the allies for the Indian poor are. The allies are the Chinese poor, the Malay poor and the Orang Asli poor." Fantastic!

Fairplayer: If anybody really cares about the poor, then remove race and religion from the poverty equation.
